Sorry for the double post, but for real - are the "big name" teams still going to Worlds? Because their schedules are piquing my interest this year. And Nfinity jumping ship for CL leads me to think there's more going on than I may have thought.

I'm going to Worlds...please tell me I'm going to have something to watch still!

I think if teams get a paid bid they are going but this may decrease the amount of at-large teams we see. I kind of saw this coming and want a written record of me saying that if Revolution and CL take off, Worlds may become "so last year"...

I don't know about that honestly... because the teams that get at large bids are more often than not NOT the teams that were invited to the Champions League. So they would be missing out on an exclusive competition completely.

True....I though about that after I wrote my post. If anything we would see a decrease in the "big dogs" and more of the smaller/lesser known programs. Which honestly is not that bad of a thing. I'm just sad that the sport is breaking into all of these "invitationals". I was hoping that someday we would have a regionals/nationals/worlds type of system but it seems we are moving farther and farther from that.

Well this is my written record of me saying "Hmmmmm...strange things are afoot!" I would not be surprised at all now if some major players didn't go to Worlds this year.

Ok usasf... your move.

Guess it makes my comment I one of the earlier threads about Champions League and some of the "Big Names" not going to worlds a little less nutty. :)

What did the Nfinity sponsorship entail? I know they did the the Nfinity cup, but what else did their sponsorship include?

I ask, because Varsity no longer allows them to have a booth at their comps, so if it's just that, that's not shocking to me.

We all had an idea that this was coming, but I think some held on to hope it wouldn't come to pass! There has been talk in previous seasons about programs possibly wanting another option for an "Olympics" style event where it is the best of the best competing at an event no longer being bound by some of the foolishness regarding the governing bodies! The Champions League is being backed by some big name gyms in the industry! Some of which don't think too highly of the USASF! I honestly think that our industry needed to be shaken up just a bit. Maybe now we will see less of a focus on who can make the most money and more of a focus on who can provide the best experience! Let the season begin!!

Not sure if my opinion will be a popular one, but I really don't know how I feel about this... I think that having the WORLD cheerleading championships is better for the growth of the sport than having an invitation-only event that only focuses on American teams.

As a Canadian, I love going to WORLDS to see teams from all over competing. Yes, you American cheerleaders are jaw-droppingly amazing and we love-love-love you, but I think that it's easy to forget that Worlds is about a lot more than JUST the top teams. I just don't really see how Champions League and USASF Worlds are comparable.

There's still IASF Worlds, which is actually one of my FAVOURITE parts of Worlds weekend, but I hope that this sort of competition-amongst-competitions doesn't ruin the unity that I think Worlds has helped us to achieve as an industry.

I do know that some of the new events, such as The AllStar Games have teams that have qualified from Canada, Chile, Australia, Mexico, Columbia, New Zealand, England and USA.
