I know somewhere we had a makeup thread before but I can't find it :( Anyways, I really want to start getting into more high end makeup because I know it's better quality (most of the time) and usually worth the money. I usually wear covergirl, sonia kashuk, almay, elf, etc. from the drugstore but I'm looking at a couple of purchases in the near future. Thought this could be a thread of your favorite (or not so favorite) high end makeup and we can discuss all things beauty :)

Here's on my wish list for makeup:
Benefit hello flawless oxygen foundation
Urban Decay makeup set spray
Urban Decay flushed palette
Urband Decay Naked 3 (and 2 and 1 lol)
Benefit porefessional primer
Benefit They're Real mascara

I use bare minerals matte foundation and I love it. It's light and natural looking but gives you coverage, and is good for your skin, I used to have bad breakouts and it's what my dermatologist suggested. That's pretty much the only nice makeup I have, I buy eyeliner and mascara and such from walmart, and rarely use eyeshadow (if I do, my sister has the naked 1 and 2 I can steal).
Oh and I have benefit "porefessional" which you put on before foundation and it helps minimize pores. (ETA oops I see you have this on your list already!)

I LOVE Benefit makeup! I use the Hello Flawless powder and Porefessional at the moment, and might switch to their foundation when my current one is empty. I like Porefessional but I'm not entirely convinced it actually does anything

Benefit They're Real mascara

I have the benefit foundation, mascara and porefessional and love them all! Would totally recommend; good coverage, the primer makes your skin smooth etc for the foundation and the mascara makes your lashes look extra long and have a lot of volume :)

I love Smashbox primers, Mac eyeshadows (All that glitters is probably my favorite), the original Naked
palette.I have a mini of They're Real, but I don't really like it. I have naturally long lashes, and I hate how it makes them look really spider-y (I don't really know how to describe it) haha. It's a really wet formula, so if you like that, you'll probably love it. Most people I know that have tried it have nothing but good things to say. Also, since you tend to be leaning towards mostly Benefit products, I would recommend Benetint and High Beam.I love Benetint because it's so pretty on the face as a blush, but as a lip stain as well. High Beam is a really pretty highlighter. You used to be able to get the minis in a trio with something else (a concealer, maybe?) for a good deal.

I love Bare Minerals for my face makeup. I only use Urban Decay for my eyes. The primer and Naked palettes are amazing and last forever. I also like the Urban Decay setting spray. Keeps my makeup fresh all day/night.

World's best concealer is called Boiing. You can get it at Sephora. It's literally "industrial strength" and covers EVERYTHING. I have a permanent spot on my cheek slightly bigger than a golf ball that is pretty discolored (looks like a big bruise) due to an autoimmune disease and most people can't even tell it's there thanks to Boiing. I use Bare Minerals as well and I feel so much less...yucky and oily than when I wear liquid foundation. Expensive, but one container of each usually lasts me about 3 months.

I would definitely recommend the naked palettes. I'm also a fan of the Too Faced natural eye palette and better than sex mascara (can I say that? I mean it's the name lol)

I love all Kat Von D makeup, I have lock-it tattoo foundation and concealer, tattoo liner, the spellbinding book of shadows, and sin-full lash mascara. The eye shadows are so pigmented. I don't really use the foundation, just the concealer on spots, it's like it's not even there.

i'm kind of a freak about certain chemicals and things in my makeup, so i don't use too many of the bigger brand-name things.

my favorites:

Tarte - amazonian clay foundation - like literally obsessed. it's a godsend. and it's one of the few foundations that matches my skin perfectly (i have an almost yellow skin tone that is ridiculously hard to match without mixing up a concoction of colors)

Tarte - emphasEYES clay eye liner - it's the pot kind that you need a brush to apply. (it does come with the brush though) only disclaimer is that the container does dry out with time (not immediately, but you may not get to use every last drop) the bobbi brown one is much better, but again, i'm a freak about chemicals.

Bare Minerals - flawless definition mascara

that with chapstick and my clarisonic is about it for my everyday "look" in the summer when i don't need foundation, I use LORAC face powder and LORAC TANtalizer (bronzer)

I like Too-Faced eyeshadows, as well as the the naked palattes (even though they're all pretty, i've only ever found use of the naked2 - the other 2 just aren't colors for me.) I love Buxom lipstick. so smooth and doesn't dry out your lips.

(and in case anyone would like to join me and my paranoia, just take an environmental health class and look up everything you put on your skin everyday :) Skin Deep® Cosmetics Database | Environmental Working Group )

I'm OBSESSED with my Urban Decay Naked Basics palate. I have Naked 1 but I use Basics soooo much more. It's smaller and cheaper and just everything I love. Plus Urban Decay primer is to dieeee for. I use Cargo bronzer for contouring and it stays on really well and doesn't get patchy. I have Stila Liquid Lipstick too which I really like. It's tricky to learn how to use at first but it stays in all day long no matter what and it's true to color and matte. I Iove it. :)

Brushes. Brushes. Brushes. The 2 things I spend limitless amounts of money for are foundation and brushes. Good makeup brushes make such a huge difference. I only use Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown brushes (and foundation actually, but you're young enough I don't think you need $50 foundation just yet). They're expensive but so worth it. If you take care of them, a good brush set can last years. Some of my brushes I have now I've had for 10+ years.

Many years ago when I worked in cosmetics I learned from the pros that if they had to choose high end makeup or high end brushes, all of them said they'd choose brushes every time. So I bought some and haven't looked back.

Yes this! I forgot about my Boiing concealer! It's so good, I don't usually get many spots but I'm such a night owl I always have dark circles and it completely covers them.

My friend has the Urban Decay Smoked palette and it's absolutely gorgeous, I can never find it in stock so I'm not sure if they even make it anymore but it's perfect for nights out. I love that the palettes come with little books to show you how to use the shadow, I am so hopeless at anything past quick eyeliner!

I use a lot of high end makeup, but I stick to drugstore mascara. I don't think the professional stuff is worth the extra cost.
Same here. For the past few years I've only used Covergirl Lash Exact. It's the only mascara I have used that doesn't clump or make my lashes stick together so I get like five huge points instead of something more natural looking. But much like @NJ Coach everything else for my eyes is Urban Decay. I absolutely love their primer and I really want to get a Naked palette but I'm not sure which one to get.
Also, does anyone have any recommendations in terms of stuff good for contouring and the best way to apply it?
