Am I The Only One Who Supports The New Uniform Rule?

While this new rule isn't perfect, I do have to say I agree simply because there is only so much you can enforce. The real problem with some unis is how they are so risqué and sexualized, but there is no way to limit that without being subjective. I think the rationale here was that if they required full tops, maybe they wouldn't be so revealing. However, I only see this rule in the future being abused and pushed, making the problem worse than it is

Will judges deduct for that? Last year our varsity uniforms fit exactly NO ONE, and all their tops rode up even with extra length added. (Some girls wore black tanks under and it looked the same.)

I had a varsity one last year and the year before and they really do ride up. I think the skirt was really long and had it for 2 years yet it still was and is big.

I don't like the rule, it shouldn't even have to be a rule. There should be age appropriate uniforms anyway....and the only time they should be wearing the unis is at competitions. If there are pictures, it's the parents responsibility to control who that picture gets to. At that point, it's not the USASF's job to do anything. If the uniforms are just worn at comps, it shouldn't be a problem. I've never been bothered by the crop top uniforms. Plus, some moms put their 2-3 year olds in bikinis, and those are more revealing than cheer uniforms. By far. Ugh...
It just makes me mad that any gyms would go so far that they have to make this rule.
Plus, most full top unis are ugly. Way too much empty space, or way too much going on when they try to fill the space.
Also, does anyone know how they'll regulate this? Deductions? Are they not going to allow them to compete?

I tell people all the time that I don't necessarily think a half top uni is inappropriate.

In fact the most INAPPROPRIATE ones I've seen have technically NOT been considered half tops.

I think the STYLES of uni on some on little ones are more side-eye worthy than the fact that the midriff is showing.

Ex: My youngest niece has worn a half top since mini 1. It does not bother me. However, her gym considered a FULL TOP design with cut outs that had me side-eyeing so hard I was about to go blind.

I've never really been a big half top supporter. I think the young girls should be covered up. Half tops are great for the older girls but I don't want to see a 5 year old in a half top.

I agree and disagree. If I had a child I would not want my little girl in a half top. But it's acceptable to many parents now a days. But, most of these kids who wear half tops are young adults who conduct themselves as athletes. So I think that half tops are not bad. They don't look bad. There are no malfunctions with them. They give teams their own identities. So I'm half and half on this.

If youth and junior kids need to wear a full top then there also needs to be a rule that specifies how long their shorts/skirts need to be! If the USASF don't do that at the same time, then the full top rule is pointless. You can still have a full uniform looking just as risqué as a half top.

There is a rule for that as well. Minimum 2" inseam for shorts and the skirt must fall one inch below the briefs. They could definitely be better, but at least they are there.

Why not get a crop top that only shows a little bit of stomach (the part that you actually need to grip to stunt)

Plus I think that 2.5 looks to short, especially on tall and curvy girls. 4" looks better (sorry for the size):

In my opinion you should be mature to have a crop top, at my gym and at many other only junior and senior have crop tops! Youth, mini,&tiny are to immature for crop tops and it gives the cheer world a bad rep. for little pageant brats who love to show there bellies (which of course isn't true). Juniors and seniors are above that and are mature enough. But if I had a youth girl as a daughter I guess I wouldn't mind it all to much.

I agree with that, only because getting a full top to look good is so hard!
