Just wondering if anyone used points or stayed with relatives in the area and needed to fill out a Housing Exception in the past? If so, what were your circumstances and what was the procedure and results.
TIA

I filled one out to stay with relatives. Our Coach gave me the form, I filled it out, the gym turned it in, and it got approved.

Yes on both. In fact I think those are the two exceptions on the form, from my memory. They will grant the exception in most cases. Get the form in early. You will get a code back that you will probably need to provide to your gym just before NCA.

I. Hate. Stay. To. Play.
I use points for ALL my travel. Why should I have to pay the 'Hotel Gestapo' prices for what I can acquire myself for no charge???

I agree, I emailed them this morning...they said the form will be on the website in August..

It's so cool, now you can fill it out and submit it online. It only took a week for me to get my approval!

I agree, everyone has said the process is easy. I have had four parents fill out the online form, which says it can take up to six weeks for a response, and they all had it back within a few days. The only frustration some of my parents are having is the need for more double queen rooms and the lack of options when the designated hotel(s) runs out. Housing is only allowing exemptions for points, military discount, staying with relatives, and employee discount. I have encouraged my parents to keep calm and keep the dialogue going with the gym owner and housing in hopes other options will open or "lack of double queens" will be added as a reason for exemption.

Last year I dealt directly with CH and they helped me find a hotel that had what we wanted and then got a contract with them. It's a lot of work (mostly phone calls) but it can be done. I found a few hotels we liked and Lori from CH called and got it done. :)

Good to know, thank you!

Does Stay and Play mean you have to reserve a room from EP's choice? Do they give you more than one hotel to choose from?

My experience this year has been that CH is less able to work with people, but hopefully that will loosen up closer to the event.

The double rooms run out but are there any King rooms still available? I would think as long as there are rooms, an exemption wouldn't be granted because the doubles are gone.

Edited to say......this is an honest question. I'm not trying to be contrary. The hotel I booked, our only choice is a King room. There were no doubles. So, our whole gym could get exemptions??

No. They're not giving exceptions for that reason.

I think in general, fewer and fewer hotels have 2 queens. What I found last year was either a King or 2 doubles. Really makes me mad because I can't share a bed with my kids in a double!
