I hate artist like Kanye West, who feels he has a right to dictate who should win awards... why was he not fighting that Etta James should have been recognized at President Obama's inauguration for her breakout hit 'At Last' instead of Beyoncé singing that song as if was the original artist...I think it would have been more for Beyoncé to share that career highlight with Etta James before she passed away... But no!!! The same with that gospel tune last night, I heard R&B singer Ledisi sang that song and Common and John Legend wanted her to sing, but TPTB wanted Beyoncé...Sometimes Beyoncé can do the right thing and sit her butt down and allow someone else get some shine...But we will never hear Kanye West screaming and hollering about that would we....hmmm!

Ledisi portrayed Mahalia Jackson in Selma and should have been the one to sing it at the Grammys

But closing a show with Beyonce gets people to sit through a 3 and a half hour show. Ledisi doesnt. And no Bey didn't sing that song like Ledisi could.

Also Beyonce portrayed Etta James in Cadillac Records prior to the 2009 inauguration. She didn't get out there and sing it like she was the original artist. She got out there and sang it like she was asked to do. That's her job.

I want to apologize in advance on this topic, I get very emotional during Grammys season time because I lived my 20s and part of my 30s watching extremely talented musicians be overlooked and literally have their voices and talents stolen away... So when I see buffoons like Kanye West yelling that 1 person is not being recognized and this person have a treasure trove of awards already, please sit down....

I feel like I have to stick up for Kanye, being his number 1 fan lol.

About his singing: No, he's not a good singer. What I like is that he knows that, but doesn't care. He sings anyway. To have that confidence and not care what other people think - just do what you like to do - is awesome. And, he writes some awesome lyrics. And produce for a lot of artists (not just Bey). He's multi-talented.

About his "ranting": I think there's always some valid points in all his rantings. However, sometimes they come out wrong - and a lot of people focus on that he sounds/looks angry, rather than the points he's trying to make. I don't think that he hates Beck (or T-Swift), but that's what people take away from the Grammy "incidents". Anyways, Beck said in an interview that he agrees with Kanye. And Sam Smith also said that he think Bey deserved to win album of the year (I think that was days ago, not yesterday/today). Looking back - Single Ladies IS one of the most memorable videos of all time.

Etta James was very upset about this and felt slighted by Beyoncé and her people, just because you being paid money, why not do the right thing and paid homage to the pioneers who paved the way for your success... Little Richard got it right, when says respect the originators of the art.

Etta James also had Alzheimer's at that time that contributed to her statement.

According to your logic nobody should ever be allowed to cover a song. Beyonce is one of the artists that takes time to recognize and respect artists that paved the way for her

"The greatest love of all"should have never happened.

"I will always love you" should have never happened.

I am not a Kanye fan... but didn't he once win a BET(?) award and on stage he "gave it away" to Outkast because he did not feel he deserved it? that makes me hate him slightly less. it's like he's pulling his own "Stick it" and choosing the winners. If I felt his outbursts were 100% genuine and he wasn't at all motivated by the attention he receives from speaking out and interrupting others' speeches, maybe I'd like him a little more.

No, I am not saying that no one should covered someone else's song, but if that artist is still alive, why not recognized them for their efforts and in fact, that was Etta James biggest hit and many people contributed that song to Beyoncé, which upsetted James a great deal...
Nope, the difference with Greatest Love of all' by I believe, written and created by George Benson and Dolly Parton's song 'I will always love you' these artists were handsomely paid every time Whitney Houston sang it, but Etta James did not get bank for her song....

....but you do realize that Etta James didn't write "At Last"...... It came out well before Etta James sang it. She covered it. Just like Beyonce covered it.

Yes, I know this, but she was best known for that tune... I am really through talking about this topic, I realize I can become irrationally sensitive and emtional, so I try not to watch that program, but I love Annie Lennox and wanted to see her, so I taped the program and only watched Annie Lennox and fast forward and watched Beyoncé, but really only wanted to hear John Legend and Common sing 'Glory'... So to be honest, I did not watch the program completely...

And in conclusion Beyonce and Etta James should pay homage to Glenn Miller...and Etta James should not get bank for that which she did not write.

I must be the only person that didn't watch the Grammys lol

I didn't either, but given that my first hour is pop culture I'm pretty caught up.
I'm not that worried about who won what but what I am worried about is Rihanna's fashion sense. WHY did she think that dress was okay? It looks like a diy baby outfit off Pinterest made in adult size.

I think my landlords/people who own my apartment complex have given up on plowing and shoveling. Mainly because I was forced to park my car in a snowbank tonight and crawl out. On the bright side, it was the smallest snowbank of all the ones in my parking lot. Thank you to whoever invented snow tires. They will come in handy tomorrow.

I'm extremely unimpressed by the snow removal efforts (or lack there of) made by the grounds people here. And I watched a lady in our parking lot try to dig her car out with a shopping cart and then get her car stuck right in the middle of the road on my way to work. Good lord, a snow shovel is $10 and Home Depot is less than a mile from our building's door. I don't understand.
