Cheersport all the way!! Food choices at the back of every hall. Bathrooms that are relatively clean and stocked. Team meeting rooms that are large enough to hold the kids and parents.
I do like the Arena at NCA. But that is the only thing I like better than Cheersport!

Team rooms are for the teams not for parents and there was food at the back of the halls at NCA. As for the bathrooms, there's nothing I can say positive about that other than that I found a "secret" clean one that we used Sunday. I wish I had found it earlier.

Although still inexcusable, I think the condition of the Convention Ce ter was due to weather. I have been to NCA for the past 3 years and this was the first time it was not cleaned from day 1 to day 2. I heard there were several convention center and hotel staff that did not come to work on Saturday due to the weather conditions. I do agree that overall NCA is far superior to Cheersport.

NCA used to be the best, hands down. Now? Not so much. They still hold a slight edge as far as viewing worlds teams, but that depends on whether or not you can even get into the arena.

Seating in the halls was good, but VIP viewing on the sides doesn't work. If you want the kids to hear you cheering for them, you have to sacrifice a clear view of the routine.

Food choices and cleanliness go to Cheersport. I have no idea why the convention center was allowed to get so disgusting this weekend. I don't remember it being like that in the past. Maybe there were staffing issues due to the weather Saturday, but that excuse doesn't fly for Sunday.

There can be a lot of walking in Atlanta, but with awards moved to building A this year it wasn't nearly as bad. That said, at this point we don't try to see every team from our gym anymore. We make it a point to see those competing close to us (time and distance) and the teams of our friends. My cp is also old enough to walk to and from the meeting room by herself, so I don't have to do that either.

Maybe this was just an off year. NCA used to be my favorite competition, I hope it will be again.

Let me clarify...I mean 'real food' choices in the back of every hall. At Cheersport there are multiple restaurants in almost every hall...BBQ, Chik-fil-A, Papa Johns, Chinese, Wraps, etc. At NCA the only food we found in the back of the halls was ice cream, popcorn, pizza, and hot dogs. In the big hallway the lines were so long we couldn't get any real food to eat, so went to the pre-packaged sandwiches at one of the stands for both days...yuck!

As for the team rooms...of course they are for the teams, but it is very nice when you are in a venue for 8+ hours to have somewhere to sit for a little while when you have had enough watching teams for the day. At Cheersport our room is large enough for the teams to stretch, warm-up, and meet...and there is still space for parents to sit down, recharge their phones, etc. While at NCA this weekend, I sat in the hallway on a freezing cold window ledge just inside the doors from the buses and smoking area while my CPs team did their stretching and warm ups. It really was an unpleasant experience all the way around.

To the poster who mentioned that the bathrooms are usually not that messy...I will give that a pass this year due to the weather. Hopefully if we return next year that at least will not be a problem!

Lol ok! I found quesadillas in the back of hall a create your own pasta. I agree hotdogs are nasty!

The Arena was disgusting!! Trash everywhere left from Saturday sitting there on Sunday Morning. Bags dripping stinky mystery liquid down the stairs that never got mopped up.
Non working toilets (when there are only 4 to begin with) in every restroom) with no toilet paper.
And rude people!!!! The rudest I have ever seen!!! I felt like I had landed in crazy town!

Yes I had the quesadillas and they were actually good.

They also had cheeseburgers or chicken strips and fries. They also had fountain drinks!!! Made my day.

I love chick fil a though so that was one thing I liked about cheersport

The venue has never been that dirty before. So I will give them a pass on that lol

Then who in the name of red-shirt army were allllllll those workers in red shirts lined up outside the arena doors? For, like, hours? I couldn't figure out who they were or what they were supposed to be doing? Did you see them?

I have to give Cheersport the edge this year. I don't love that comp but it was so much easier to move around in & as others have said SO much cleaner. The hallway at NCA is so crowded that if you're all the way to the left & need to move right it's worse than changing lanes on I-85 in ATL during rush hour! The food choices at Cheersport were much better as well.

I was still so upset by this that today I placed a call Bonnie Zitek, the Convention Center Facility Manager. I went into graphic detail the disgusting condition of the venue...facts which she was already aware of. She said that the cleaning company is contracted out so not directly staffed by the facility. 50% of the cleaning crew called out sick on Saturday. She also stated that it is not so easy to call in anyone else in their place since there is a contract in place, although this is not the first issue they have had with this company. She also stated that the Convention Center is under the control of the city of Dallas and not independently run which makes for any changes in contracts to take a bit more time. I told her if that was the case, that perhaps someone should have called the mayor of Dallas in to dump some garbage since the conditions in the bathrooms were most definitely violations of health codes. LOLOLOL In any case, she was very understanding and aware of the issues this past weekend. If anyone else feels like complaining I would recommend that you call the Mayor's office since basically he is the head honcho of the Convention Center. :)

CHEERSPORT has the edge on variety of food choices, I totally agree with that. I actually like the venue better on the whole.

I've always liked the double decker high stand for the judges. While I appreciate NCA had staff to keep people from walking in front of judges tables in the halls, put those stands up another level like CHEERSPORT and people can walk all they want. I love the priority viewing area for CHEERSPORT because you can stand up.

However, CHEERSPORT SERIOUSLY needs to get a handle on the whole standing in chairs thing. It's ridiculous. I totally give NCA the edge on that because I can watch ALL the amazing teams without having to stand on a chair and hope to see the top half of a flyers head. I think the only way they do that is finding some arena like NCA has because I don't ever see people sitting down in B4 or B5 in the near future.

And the blankets from CHEERSPORT are awesome!
