This is the lineup for the competition. There are a ton of Massachusetts teams this time around.

So many! I anticipate more MA teams attending next year as well! I'm hoping (if we get awarded a bid again from our State) to bring my team next year!

Dracut is amazing as always, should be interesting if they can grab the NCA Grand title again like they did back in 2015!

Bridgewater Raynham is great too - I'm so excited to see how they do at NCA. Their routine this fall was fabulous!

Whitman-Hanson is always good - it looks like they've dropped down in girls since our State competition, I'm interested to see their National routine - they had a ton of skill in the fall, just some execution issues.

Peabody - I'm friends with this coach and this is their first ever National trip with a whole new routine basically (due to AS conflicts). I'm so excited for them and I know they are just going to love the experience no matter the outcome!

Dartmouth - I didn't see them this past season, so don't have any input!

This is Bridgewater-Raynham's first trip to NCA. Girls are very excited...they do have a mostly new routine to meet the longer cheer requirement of NCA (stinks that MA rules changed and they do a much shorter cheer now) and just threw full out for the first time the other day  They have an amazing coach and they are just looking forward to the experience of NCA no matter the outcome!!

That's the spirit! I'm sure they will do great! I was so impressed with them this fall! Watching them at states was unbelievable - once they stuck their ending I knew they had D1 in the bag!

I don't even want to talk about NCA. This will definitely be our only year of HS cheer. My cp is competing on Saturday only in timeout cheer, so basically a huge waste of time and money. They are only eligible for National Champion if they compete in all 3 sections of Timeout (cheer, band dance, and fight song?), well that was decided against so I'm not even sure why they are going. Our "performance" team is competing in small novice with 12 kids, so that should be a quick and painless death considering the out of state teams they will be seeing.
Sorry I am so salty from this season I can easily season a whole steak.

Not to ask anything too personal but did CP come off doing all star and not enjoy the experience? Or did something else occur to sour the idea of HS cheer.

Did the coach not know they had to do all 3? Little teams can do well at nca since they don't have to do much to have 75% of the team complete a skill.

I am so happy to see Massachusetts teams competing at NCA! I'd much rather see them compete at NCA or UCA and not win than go to an all star competition with a high school division with little or no one to compete against. They are at somewhat of a disadvantage since cheer can not start until the end of August, but the teams who are going are so good! Good luck to all of the teams competing!

It's a mix of a few things. Part of it was the it not being like All Star. The biggest part was the lack of organization and structure. Some kids were held to one standard while others were allowed to do whatever. One athlete failed to show up to practice the whole week before a competition but still got to take the mat (even though we all signed a form stating we understood the consequences of our child missing practice). Then there was just the mean girl attitude that was never stomped out by the coaches. They spread horrible rumors about each other, stab each other in the back, ect. I understand teen girls can be nasty but I would expect the coach to do something about it after sending out flowery letters at the beginning of the season about how that behavior would not be accepted. I can't count how many times my daughter was left in a dark parking lot alone because the substitute coach didn't want to bother waiting for her ride (I was not late, they got back early).
OH and when my cp decided she was going to tryout for drill team, her supposed "best friend" said to her face "Well it's not like your're going to make it anyway." This has been non-stop since the beginning of January and is pretty standard for how they treat each other on the team.

I'm really sorry your CP had to go through all that on the team. Most HS teams are "leave your issues at the door and get along in here" and a lot of schools have a rule that if you're absent before a weekend you can't participate in any school activities over the weekend (this goes for all sports, not just cheer).

Ugh, that sucks!

WOW Belle Chasse. Motions are strong and sharp, megaphone movement is strong and controlled, they're LOUD, and the signs are waved correctly, not just whipped horizontally in a way that doesn't allow us to see the letters. Also pacing is fantastic, they didn't rush.
