super frustrated.. somewhat hit my head on sunday and have had a headache since monday night and dizziness/nausea on wednesday.. My parents took me to the ER since our doctor is booked but they told me I was completely fine, probably just a cold??
I've had migraine problems in the past (it was linked to hormones, it was when I was a "tween") but this headache is constant and not the same at all. Anyone have any suggestions? I've been drinking LOTS of water and taking medicine... I wish I knew what was wrong so I could fix it..

Concussion, virus, sinus infection and something that is rare for young people but, can be caused by a minor hit to the head is BPPV. BPPV can cause dizziness/nausea depending on the position you are in and is caused by the crystals in your ear dislodging and causing mixed signals to your brain. It does not cause migraines, however, but if you are feeling dizzy only in certain positions the two may be unrelated.

If it is a virus, you should feel relief after 10 days. If it is a concussion or sinus infection, however, you won't feel much or any relief and should go back to the doctor. If they think it's a sinus infection they'll give you antibiotics and you'll have relief in a couple of days. If it is BPPV, you would notice it with only certain movements (looking up, down, rolling over in bed, etc) but, they can put these rocks/crystals back into place by positioning your head. With a concussion, rest, a dark room, and time. I hope you feel better soon!

I'll be marching in Charlotte!

I literally just decided to go with my Aunt. I normally don't march but I really feel like I should take advantage of this oppurtunity in my own back yard.

My brother is a cop in the area too. He's said he can't wait to get off work and he's not even in the city.

I'm so glad I'm not in DC today. I just saw a video of people rioting and breaking the windows of the Starbucks that I went to almost every day after school, right next to my bus stop in downtown. So nice to be away from all the craziness for once.

I wasn't a fan of either candidate but, I love watching the inauguration of every President. Obama and Trump were gracious to each other and for the most part, both CNN and FOX were respectful in their reporting. Not every country can peacefully transfer power, and as hateful as the campaign trail can be, it always brings tears to my eyes to see both sides put their differences aside in respect of the process.

The destruction and rioting is awful. Some poor business owners lost a lot today because of someone's foolishness. Members of our military were harassed. Police officers are in the hospital. Base behavior at its worst.

It always is. As someone who has been through that in the past year (I live in Charlotte), it's important to remember that the news will show you what sells, aka the violence. And in the age of social media, it spreads much faster, giving the appearance that it's much more widespread. I hate that people who are there making their voices heard peacefully are completely overshadowed by violence. These are the type of people who are looking for any excuse to cause trouble.

This. I remember watching live footage streamed by protesters in Ferguson and I saw them actively trying to stop rabble routers from destroying property. But because THAT doesn't piss people off, it didn't make the news. The media labeling rioters as protesters hasn't helped, either.

I honestly don't care about the riots. The narrative is certainly interesting comparatively to the most recent "riots"

But anyway I don't care about these riots. I don't care about Women's Marches. I didn't do this. This wasn't me. This isn't "my" concern. This isn't my problem to fix. This isn't my mess. So, naw I don't have a March to attend nor nary a trash can to throw (figuratively ). What I'm seeing right now is that these "liberals" don't care about anything until it directly impacts them.

I'm equally amused and unbothered.

But what we really should be doing is working on hand selecting our 2020 Dem Nominee. See what happens when people tell us they're running vs us telling them they should run.

Lucky to get the local version of DC news up, which is what we stayed on for most of the day. They covered the parade and the protests simultaneously. I saw a bit of everything but it's not total chaos. I think it's very isolated to where the inaugural events are, but I saw 90% peaceful protest and a little bit of the more agressive stuff when the mayor came on to tell people to control themselves.

I completely agree with you.

It was interesting to hear an interview a handful of month's back from the Daily Show, a guest was talking about the electoral process and how each nominee is kind of selected above the pack and pushed for more than the others. If we look back at the past few elections, he said the Republicans were very much run like a corporation with seniority. Mitt Romney got the push because it was 'his turn', Bob Dole got the push because it was 'his turn'...type of system. And as we've seen, that system doesn't work. It's always been the Democrat side that went with the new 'popular' person they felt could win. This time though, it switched. Donald Trump grabbed this election by the...you get my point, while Clinton was treated almost like it was 'her turn'.

I don't ever want to see that out of Democrats again...ever. So yes, we need to look at 2020 now and begin to plan; also 2018 for the mid-term. The Republicans have too much control and not even balance and it's time to change that up a bit too.
