All-Star Allstar Cheer Flaws

It was definitely HOW it was said, it was a CLEAR insult to CEA, and the fact that it was not immediately deleted once found out it was not true. I don't think anyone is taking your "apology" seriously because of your actions from the start. Then fighting with people on twitter about it afterwards. Not professional whatsoever. I really hope you are not a judge, that just makes it worse because you should know better. Whole situation would have been avoided if it was worded differently. If you are such an expert on cheerleading you would know that Fri night was a performance for charity, not part of the competition. So.....these kids perform for charity then have to compete first thing next morning, only to deal with this. A legit mistake is one thing but to me this does not qualify as such.

Do University's in Sweden or other countrys recognize cheerleading as a sport?
In the UK, we have university teams who compete allstar. A lot of students don't start cheerleading until they start university so the most popular level is usually level 2, with lots of teams also in the level 1 and 3 divisions. Our university nationals were this weekend and I don't think any level 5 or 6 teams competed, which is normal.

Is it you on your avi? That uni is to die for!:D

Wow, this thread went left. Why dissect and discount an apology? Why call into question this person's ability to serve as a judge based on the fallout from the tweet? Does the EP run a background check on the social media accounts of all judges? Why post a tweet with erroneous information in this thread unless you want to continue stirring the pot? Just direct the curious person to the original tweet or send a DM with the tweet.

IMO, the admins should delete or lock this thread. If someone wants to air concerns about a tweet, take it up with that person via DM or on the Twitter account.

I went and apologized to every single person who responded to me...it wasn't a
An "Industry Professional" who puts false information on social media AND adds bias to it..... You won't say what your role is within the industry, so I am going to assume you are lying about that too.
You damn well better believe I will call you or any other adult out who tweets gossip about kids - we get enough of that crap from 13 year old anons.

. YAS QTD!!!!

I really have no opinion about the validity of the poster, or the actual tweet itself, other than it was negative., But do want to say that I dislike the practice of deleting tweets, especially ones you want to clarify or retract or otherwise respond to. I much prefer the fact that it was left standing and responded to. I think it adds more to an apology if people can see what is being apologized for.

No current reason for thread to be closed. It's a discussion board, and it's a topic that was discussed. No worse than any of the others. But in answer to your question, yes an EP can fire you because of your social media. And the discussion of the tweet came to this thread because it's a discussion of flaws within the industry. Everyone will move on when the next thing happens, which given the time of year, won't be long.

They do and we were warned about it during our training. Some EPs do keep an eye on you because you represent them when they hire you. You have to be careful when you comment on something.

Yesssssss! Oh my gosh, again this is my CP first year in All Star cheer and before we decided on the gym to join I checked at least 4 gyms out and I noticed that every gym had at least one of the same National "champion" banner of "X" year. My thought was there was/should be only "1" National champion, right? Fast forward to surviving the first half of this rookie year it was actually my husband who noticed it recently and said since Varsity own all of the events maybe they should just divide the country up into regions like they do in the NFL: both the NFC and AFC have a North, South, East, And West. All division champions get paid bids to the Summit or Worlds and move on to the National competition to compete for one national title but allow 4th-2nd runner ups in each division to compete at "Nationals" for a chance at the National title of their division. Or just remove the word "NATIONAL" for the different competitions and just let Summit and Worlds be the "Super Bowls" of All Star Cheer and call it a day. JS

I agree with you as far as the tiny age group goes. And yes I'm glad the minimum age for the senior division go up. Even if it is a little. I really wish they would come out with their changes with some explanations. It's like we're all left trying to figure these things out. Maybe eventually we will get to 12 as a minimum age eventually. Who knows?!!!?!

This ^^^^ if the top of Junior is 14 then maybe IDK Senior should start at 14 instead of dropping down to what is it 10 now? And, another odd observation if you require Jr's to be covered i.e. no two piece unis then why are 10 year-olds allowed on senior teams? Oh, the same for not too much hip/ booty shaking of the Jr's especially level 1's and again they allow 10 year olds on Senior teams? JS
