Some people are my gym are trying to figure out the odds that their child's team has at getting a Summit bid at their next competition.

When we look at the Wildcard Bids that are announced on Varsity, does that mean that the gym has accepted the Wildcard Bid already? Do they have a specific amount of time after the reveal to accept or decline? Or does the gym have to declare before the competition if they will accept a Wildcard Bid?

We just weren't sure if the Wildcard Bids are official and accepted when they are announced.

I hope this makes sense, and thank you for any responses!

Unless things have changed since last year. The EP ask at the start of the event if you are interested in taking a Wildcard Bid and if you say yes then your in. Wildcard bids don't get passed down. Hope this helps and good luck on the rest of your season.

Before comp the coach has to say if they will accept WC bids. Not all teams have to b included for the same gym. I hope that if a team signs up to accept, they use it.

Can someone refresh my memory of how many wild card teams are pushed through to the finals? One goes to day 2 as well? Trying to remember as I look at these divisions primarily made up of WC bids.

It changed this year and if I remember correctly, top 2 go straight to Sunday and 3rd place in wildcard goes to Saturday.

That was what I thought.... wondering how that impacts the total number going on to Sunday. Let's say there are 10 teams with At large/paid bids and as many with WC bids... how many compete Sunday? 1/2 from Saturday? Or half minus the two that advance directly? I'm so confused.

The teams that advance directly to Sunday don't impact the amount of teams moving on from Saturday. How many move on from Saturday is completely dependant on how many are competing that day. I believe with divisions that have 10 or less, 5 move on. With 11-19 half move on and 20+ is 10 moving on (that may not be exactly right numbers wise, but it's close). The WC teams are included in the total number of teams in Saturday's division.

My assumption is the 2 advancing directly to Sunday don't factor into the equation. If there are less than 10 teams in semi (Saturday) 5 teams advance. If there are 11-19 50% advance and more than 20 teams in semi finals 10 advance to Sunday. And then add 2 to each of those numbers (to account for 1st and 2nd place on Friday) and that gives you the number competing on Sunday.

Do you know what they would do in this situation (granted, I know it could change in the next few weeks)? In my CPs division, there are 4 at large bids and 2 wildcard bids. I was wondering how they would handle that.

Wondering the same. So far there is only 1 WC in my CPs div, the rest are AL.

If the competition was held today, both WC teams would compete Friday, and would advance to Sunday. With the Saturday teams, they'd take all 4 to Sunday.

If a team accepts a WC bid, can they add a person/people to a team and then go for an at large? What if they just change their team name?
Teams that accept WC bids can only upgrade to a Paid bid, they are not eligible for an AL once they accept the WC. Could they change the name and add kids and compete as an entirely different team. My guess is yes, but my understanding is you cannot have two teams compete in same division with the same roster and I believe only 5 can cross from one team to another at the Summit.
