Airborne (a new gym) is going. I talk to a few people who go there and they told me there going.

Venting..... absolutely hate when a "larger" competition lumps large teams and small teams together. There is a reason for the different devisions and it's ridiculous that small teams should have to go up against larger ones.

I know [emoji35]! I've heard many gym owners and coaches are really upset by this and tried to get the EP to change but they won't budge. 20+ teams in most divisions is crazy when the D1 BATC drilled divisions down so there were about 5-8 teams in divisions. I'm all for a competitive experience but why not do the same as the D1 Comp?! Ugh

It is completely unfair to have large and small teams combined at this event. We are one of 11 small teams up against one large team. We all feel like we are competing for second place. Why were the divisions at the D1 BATC so much smaller? Coastal to cheap to buy the extra jackets? Nextyearour team will be spending our money elsewhere.

I can't speak to other divisions. But a division can only be split small/large if there will be at least 2 of each. If there is only 1 large team, no comp will split that. And scoring is based on numbers/ratios, so a large team should not have an advantage over a small team.

I would like to think that, but too many times we have been up against large teams and lost. It's always way more impressive to see 6 or 7 stunt groups then it is to see 3 or 4. Not to mention the look of a pyramid. Corography on a large team also looks much more impressive when you have over 20 girls moving around on a mat then only 15ish...
I know they say they judge based off ratios, but it's way more then that and always has been. If that was truly the case then they would never split into large/small.

Exactly. If you look they broke up a lot of divisions for D1. They have large and small divisions where there is only one team competing. They also broke up their senior 4 division into A and B with only 8-10 teams in each division... but there are some divisions competing this weekend with 20 plus in the division...

Large teams can have a certain visual impressiveness, but isn't it easier to hit with 3 or 4 stunt groups vs 6 or 7? Also, it is easier for a small team to be in sync and clean. Not sure why (based on what you have said) the BATC treated small and large differently for D1 vs. D2 but I don't think you should all view the large team as the favorite just due to their size. Good luck!

I'm not sure the number of groups have anything to do with how hard it is to hit. The difficulty, yes... but I wouldn't say a small team is at an advantage just because there is less groups going up. I agree that the sync might be a little better though.
I don't think a large group is the favorite automatically, but there are divisions for a reason. A large cheer competition that offers bids should not group teams in different divisions together.
Thanks for the luck!
