I really side-eyed the tweet that Top Gun retweeted with a guy unzipping the girl's bra top....
I just saw it. I cringed really hard.

ETA: @icequeen If Smoed also did reveal pics and videos doing their best foxy smolder and lifting their skirts up, I would definitely say that's inappropriate. When I was in high school, there was a school around me that used to get words/claw prints on their spanx. I would see so many "lifted up skirt, behind out" pics, it's not even funny.

Is this oo5 top similar to Smoed flyers doing a handstand and spelling out smoed with the inside of their skirts? I havent heard anyone say thats inappropriate and basically they are mooning you minus the bloomers. F5 had flyers pull down a piece of their top to say F5 in rhinestones a few years and I thought it was a unique idea.

Is OO5 unzipping their clothes on stage to reveal their team name written on their bras different from Smoeds flyers having their skirts spell out their team name (on their skirts) when the skirts naturally fall down when they do an inverted skill?

Yeah..... I'm gonna say there's a distinct difference.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with showing sports bras behind OO5's tops because that's what teams practice in anyways. We all see sports bras at practice/in practice outfit reveals. I think a case could be made that it depends on the motion.

It's all in the presentation right now, that makes me think it's inappropriate. Maybe the functionality in the routine will be more tame (I don't see it headed in that directly presently but I'll keep an open mind)

Truth be told, there's nothing spectacular about the sports bra that would warrant a rip off reveal ‍♀️....

I feel like this could have been done better (think of a Superman-style reveal vs gradually opening a top, which is clearly suggestive). To dispel that perception they could have have the guys open their tops as well, so it would look like a cool unisex thing as opposed to something sexual. After all, Top Gun loves setting trends and it would have been groundbreaking to have the males wear a top as crazy/detailed as the females'.

Didn't look too bad here IMO, because her whole pose was more "BOOM, superhero", whereas in the video it just looked and felt different (i.e. more suggestive).

Nope, there's a big difference between "unzipping" your top and pulling it to the side and showing your sports bra to going upside down in handstand and your skirt falling down (naturally do they when in handstand). Now if it was choreographed where the pull up the skirts and moon people then yes it would be the same (at least in my eyes).

Now I do like oo5's uni minus the bra reveal.

ETA: I haven't (or we) seen their routine yes so hopefully I'm wrong on how it will be "revealed" idk .

Idk I feel like the owners/coaches of top gun are pretty good at staying within the rules. Minus the one year with the hair ribbon?
If they felt like the uniform might cause a big deduction at worlds towards 005 I don't think they wouldve bothered to make new uniforms.
I'm not too big of a prude though, it definitely tests the waters on being provocative. But if people in all-star cheer are offended by a sports bra being revealed in a routine. Then I don't know how they've survived in this sport.

Again, the hair ribbon deduction was just a rumour people!! They just didn't score high enough to make finals that year... competition is always stiff in the IOC 5 division.

I like the uniform but not a fan of the socks being over the knee. If they were the typical top gun calf high socks I'd love it. I also wish the logo on the back was a bit smaller. But otherwise a gorgeous uniform.
I just saw a video of Lady jags performance from today in their new uniforms and I definitely have to agree with you on the over the knee socks. Majority of the girls kept having to pull them up when they were transitioning because they were falling and quite a few girls by the pyramid looked like they didn't even have them on because they had fallen all the way down to the ankle. Definitely a bummer on that

That would be my concern more than the aesthetics; I'm used to the TG looks. That could actually be a big issue for the bases with their flyers.

Not surprised by that. Unless the "socks" were made of tight legging type material I don't think they will stay up (they look like tights to me in the photo). I get the feeling they will do away with them before they get to worlds.

If the were just wearing a sports bra to compete, fine. That's not what this is. It's purposely meant to look like they are stripping to be "edgy". There's another word I would use to describe it.

Sorry for being a huge prude:
I know they're an open team but I dislike this flashing pose. I'm just a Negative Nancy and already foresee children doing it and the choreography that's going to incorporate ripping their tops open

I didn't get that at all. I got Supeman ripping open shirt to reveal costume and I'm sure that was the intended effect.

I'm sure they probably did intend it to come off this way but execution can muddle intentions, ex: Bring It On sequels, Cali Soul 5 routine, the videos of other people opening girls' tops that are now deleted. On the flip side of the pics/gifs I found of women also opening their shirts like that, for every one Supergirl, there's about 10 for the 18+ forum. I respect your opinion though.
