High School Tryout Season

I've my very first issue with a "finsta" post from a returning athlete, and we haven't even had tryouts yet! She is complaining (with vulgar language & violence) about choreography dates falling on her birthday (which they have every year she's been in the program - what does she expect?). Oy vey

I'm officially old. I had to google "finsta" because I didn't know what that was.

"Honey, allow me to free up your birthday for you....and the rest of your free time as well."

Is there drama at every gym when teams are announced or just ours?

Probably a better question for the all star forum. I had zero drama with high school tryouts this year. My friends who own an all star gym have had some level of BS to deal with for the past 12 years, but randomly did not this year.

I had a few salty parents this year but no real drama (high school.)

I had a varsity vet who made comp last year go down to both JV football and JV basketball. While I expected drama- got zero (Too much NEW talent this year knocking vets off their spots) The leader/confidence in her is now blossoming and she's MUCH happier. I'm happier for her!

Well, loved my team for the month I had them.

Drama from a parent is leading to a re-do of the entire program. I know this is public so I don't want to go into much since tengirls don't know yet, but I'm heartbroken for the girls that actually made the team and the future of the program.

That is ridiculous and the AD and Principal should 100% support how the team was formed and you. Cheer Mommas can be so over the top.

In SC a 7th grader can participate in any HS non-contact sport which includes soccer, tennis, golf, baseball, track, cross country, and Cheer. It is usually up to the individual coach to decide how they want to break down allowing what grades can do Varsity/JV/MS sideline and Varsity/JV competitive. Sometimes it is the HS AD. The SC HS League requires only that a competitive cheer athlete also cheer sideline for football or basketball. At our HS 7th graders can cheer Varsity competitive but it doesn't happen often. Our Varsity and JV coach require that any athlete on Varsity competitive also cheer Varsity sideline for football bc that works better for practice times. We do have athletes that cheer JV competitive and MS sideline for football.

hahaha don't worry, my dad doesn't know the correct term for a kick-baskets. You gotta love those "spinny-things-that-the-flyers-do-when-you-throw-them-in-the-air stunts".

what kind of message does this send to the kids? Complain enough and get your way. By re doing everything the school is buying into the "ME" mentality of this kid and parent and stating the other kids that did make it simply don't matter...If I were you I wouldn't lay down and RE DO anything...
Squad selection is a final process.
I'm sorry you're dealing with this
