I think she needs a coaching change... Riley didn't seem ready to compete at Classics or Nationals (she was injured at both of those meets too and even said she didn't feel ready to compete in interviews) and I feel like her coach was trying to get her to push through injuries and now look what happened.

I have a feeling Ashton will go, but I would rather have anybody else on that team besides her lol. I don't find her one routine that exciting and she has a low difficulty score so I feel like the chances of her medalling, or even making bar finals, are pretty slim.
I saw somewhere that Laurie is working out, but not at MG Elite. I wonder if Riley will follow suit.

I'm surprised they went with two all arounders and two specialists.

I almost would have liked to see the top 4 all arounders attend to see where they stack. Without Riley, I'd replace Ashton with Marz since her bars is still pretty solid and scores well and instead of Jade I'd send Jordan who won 2nd AA at Nationals and has high vault scores already. This year isn't a big deal at Worlds anyway.

I've loved Jordan for years so I'm kind of sad she's staying home, but she is a little bit of a wildcard sometimes with execution so I guess I get it. I like Morgan and obviously she had a good showing at camp, but if we're only sending two AA-ers, I think I would have sent Jordan over her. Though Morgan may have a little more international experience on Jordan and they know she performs well under pressure, which is huge.

I don’t like this because Margzetta and Jordan didn’t make/aren’t traveling

Ragan was a given so not much to discuss there.

Morgan is whatever to me.

Ashton should be thanked for services and sent home. I don’t see what her future is, maybe a World’s cycle after this (but I hope not) but she’s not going to be in Tokyo

TBH I don’t necessarily think any of the 4 will be in Tokyo.

Only 3 can compete on each event in a non-team year, so it was pretty much guaranteed they'd send 2 AA and 2 specialists. I am surprised in the best way that Morgan made it. Bummed for Jordan and Trinity, but I'm really hoping the future will be bright for them!

Although I love Ashton I agree she's struggled. I'm not SURPRISED she made the team though. But I do trust Valeri and am pretty sure he wouldn't botch his first Worlds team. Hopefully Ashton has some upgrades in store or has been working stuff at camp we haven't seen.

GB Men and Women Worlds Teams:

So happy for Nile!! I follow him om Youtube and he is such an inspiration to young male (and female) gymnasts all over the world and seem to be such a good guy! He has had a rough year too with an injury that eh had to have surgery on so he so deserve this.

Good luck to All Gymnasts though!!

I agree! I love his youtube channel! He and his family are such positive people and I'm so glad he got through his injury and onto the Worlds team :)

I know Jade is a freaking powerhouse on vault and floor, but I still find it so interesting that 2017 Classics and Nationals were her only two elite competitions ever and her first international assignment will be worlds. That to me is one of the bigger indicators of the change from Martha to Valeri; she would never put someone on the world's team without them having a lot of high stakes experience (at least at the junior level) to know how they perform under pressure.

Kayla Williams went to Worlds in 2009 with no international experience! She did the same thing as Jade basically... competed level 10, had two vaults, and first competed elite at Classics in 2009; few months later she became the World Champ on vault! Hoping Jade will do the same.

I'm excited about the US team except for Ashton. I think she might actually get two per country'd out of bar finals? She has the lowest bars D-score on the US team, which for a bars specialist is kind of sad lol.

Anyways, I'm actually going to Montreal for the weekend of event finals and I'm going to watch the women's vault and bar finals!!!! I'm so excited! I wish I was going for the whole week, but that's my first week at my new job so I cant take it off. If anybody has recommendations of some things to do or places to eat at in Montreal please let me know! :)

Lots of videos from podium training on here! I'm so excited!!!!

ETA: I'm SO impressed with Russia on bars this year. They're always fabulous, but I was so bored with their routines last quad because almost all of them were so similar. Eremina and Iliankova's routines are so unique and difficult I love it!!

only had time to watch floor live on podium training but I really like them in blue leos. I know Jade is a powerhouse but I was still surprised they have her going last on floor. Morgi seemed like she had a bit of nerves going OOB but hopefully she got all the jitters out. Ragan looked solid as ever.
