Hi All.
My daughter is only in her 2nd year of cheer and this year is struggling with the fact that she's been placed on a team but has no position. (eg - not a base, backspot or flyer). She is struggling with the feeling of not belonging or fitting in and therefore not being valued. She is quite often just watching or left to practice her tumbling by herself on the trampoline/airmat etc. Is it normal to place kids on teams and then not actually use them? What am I paying for?
When she is part of the team and learning the dance/jumps etc. She is often berated and made an example of in front of everyone for not picking up stuff quick enough. She is the youngest on her team. Any ideas on how to handle this without pulling her out or making the coach 'hate her' (her words - not mine) even more?
