Amen x 100. That whole “family” thing goes out the window pretty quick if you leave the gym or even question the service you’re paying to receive.
What is CP? I agree if you meant CA. And at CA you aren't allowed to not be a part of click moms or your child will suffer.
I have never seen anything like it. Livng vicariously through their children is a very sad way to live. Especially since child do as their parents (ie. look like them when they get older).

My parents did not socialize with the other parents at my sports when I was child and I definitely felt isolated because of it. So I make an effort to get to know some people at CP's gym/school/any other activity. YMMV.

I would guess that I am maybe in the lobby for about a half hour a week. I use that time to touch base with people, ask if there is any news/emails that I may have missed. We don't have a viewing area so that cuts down on a lot of the drama between parents. We see the fruits of their labor at comps, but don't see the day to day work that goes on at practice, classes or privates. There are definitely people that don't like each other, but they keep it quiet. I can honestly say that I am not aware of any parents causing drama or toxic parents at the gym.

My advice to anyone dealing with a snarky person at their gym would be to ignore this person while maintaining a neutral body language. Just play dumb like you don't know that they are being rude. They will leave you alone if they think that you are not upset by their comments or actions.

CP = Cheer Princess/Prince, or in other words, your kid who cheers

For most people, yes. But when I type CP I think to myself "cheer professional" It's a nice alternative for people like me who aren't into the whole princess, bling, glam, etc vibe.

@Serena Brandt you've been busy since Wednesday:confused:. Clearly you had a bad experience at Cheer Athletics. Given you have offered zero quality posts before your serial bashing I'm having a hard time finding any credibility to your posts. Not to mention Cheer Athletics has had tens of thousands of athletes come and go through their doors and many of these athletes and parents have been on this board for years. No gym is perfect, but most of your accusations are pretty baseless. This board is a discussion board and although bad experiences have been discussed here, it is normally done with tact and class. :chillpill:

Thanks for clearing up which CA she was referring to.

I have a lot of questions on how things are done there and no one seems to be able to answer any of them. I find that odd. Deflection and defensiveness usually is a sign of guilt. Just because thousands walk through there doors doesn't mean it's all positive. I know that isn't the case. Silencing people that have serious concerns is not how business is done.

My child doesn't cheer. She tumbles and that is all we care about. Cheering has a negative connotation-especially in the work world (post college etc). Those instagram photos of girls scantily clad stick with you forever. It's not a good thing.

That doesn't even make any sense.
You are welcome to stereotype us cheer moms and our children. Just like we have the right to stereotype you. I agree with the others. You did not pick the proper place to address your problems with this gym. If you think that they are not a safe gym, why did you not report this to the USASF?
Blasting them on a cheer message board will do nothing for your case.

and yet here you are, on a cheer focused message board.

You have accusations-not questions. Your posts are all “I heard” and no facts. You won’t get far with that nonsense on this board.

Hum, no? In the adult world, people have other things to do than judge you on the sport you played. I mean, in my adult world...
