Google “adult school girl costume” (or maybe dont) and you’ll find plenty of costumes that look just like the TG one. Same thing with their karate uniform. Heck some are even less revealing than the TG versions.

I’ve always loved TG, but there are other ways to push the boundaries.

Unfortunately, google "cheerleader costume" and you will find plenty of costumes that look just like what 99% of teams wear, some less revealing. I'm not sure that is a fair standard.

I generally don't like themed uniforms, but these don't strike me as particularly revealing or sexy.

this is definitely into fetish territory as previously mentioned.

especially with the music video. 'school girl' in pop culture is a highly sexualized character or trope, as others have mentioned in relation to the idea of it being an oft used costume. but adding the knock off britney spears video, which itself was a highly over-sexed pop music video that was the launch for her entire career, puts this on a very gross level.

are we a sport or a performance art? is this Top Gun saying we don't care about cheer being in the olympics someday?
this is a mess.

i dont know, i feel like weve seen FAR more skin exposing uniforms over the years then these, granted some of those have come out of top gun. If they wouldnt have done some corny video, i never would have connected them to britney spears. Plus i think its a bit of a reach to be like well they used britney as a reference in the video so its to over sexualized...

as well maybe some programs dont care about an olympic push, they just want to continue doing what they love. Im sure some are for it, but im sure others dont care or arent. I dont understand the we need to make our sport an olympic sport argument anymore.

How are those ties and suspenders not a risk in stunting? I can see a base getting their hands tangled quite easily, and the ties being a choking hazard for the tops.

And I suspect the guys will be hot-and that the jackets/backpacks would be hard to tumble in.

I feel same. Yes other uniforms might show more skin but this outfit, in this setting, communicates something else entirely to me.

Slightly off topic, Rebel social media needs to do better - a LOT better. They are responding to minors with borderline bullying and threatening to report them to their gym for posting that they don't like the uniform. It's the equivalent to a temper tantrum. I am more turned off by Rebel as a company than any uniform they are putting out because of their behavior.

I will add to my post earlier. I definitely don't think these ones are too revealing/too sexual/etc, I just can't imagine tumbling or stunting in suspenders/neck tie or a backpack. I like the theme, just wish it had been toned down slightly.

Yes saw this earlier last night. Tried calling out an athlete saying how they reported their twitter comment to their gym for not liking their uniforms. I really hope gyms arent that suckered into uniform companies to let them call out their athletes. I mean i hope we arent going into the direction that companies think they own gyms cause they provide free/discounted merchandise....

Well if you think those uniforms are appropriate, that is your opinion.

But I don't appreciate you calling me a bully.

Bullying is a repeated pattern of personal attacks. That does not characterize my post.
And honestly I don’t see what would be so wrong about the karate uni. Is it something I would design, no, but in no way is it distasteful.

bingo.

most sports either max out at the Olympic level, true balanced world competition, or on the pro level where money rules all towards a high level balanced competition. that is where recognition of top coaches and athletes comes from.

doubt we will ever see Pro Cheer in the traditional professional sense, so Olympics sounds pretty cool. Makes for a renowned goal that athletes of all types and ages can agree and respect.

i personally would've thought TG would hold themselves to a higher standard knowing they are tastemakers at the elite level. whatevs. their mess to deal with, i'm just commenting from the sidelines

It's bizarre that they preach an "anti-bullying" rhetoric, but yet enable 12-year-old girls and their mothers to comment on every piece of criticism they receive.
The sassy social media intern thing is not for me. I'm ok with 99% of their responses, but there's ALWAYS one or two comments they take way too far. So unprofessional and not a good look for any company.
