All-Star How Common Are Hair Pieces?

We do a french braid across the front (right to left) and a high straight pony.

This is my favorite hairstyle and I wish I was any sort of competent at hair so I could do it on myself. My mom used to braid my hair into a pony when I was younger because my hair is very fine and slips out of everything. I have to tie my hair into a literal knot when I put it up in a bun, otherwise it falls out in milliseconds.

Hair pieces are great when the gym mandates a hairstyle that you cant do with your own hair, don't have time to do, don't want to damage hair, etc. Cheer hair trends have fluctuated between hair piece to no hair piece back to hair piece over and over. I think we're entering the no hair piece trend again. As an athlete, I preferred no hair piece/athletic look. As a spectator, I don't really care as long as it's not completely distracting. (Uniforms have gotten a hundred times more distracting than hair styles have over the past few years, imo.) If I were a parent, I'd probably choose what ever is the least amount of hassle - even if that meant using a hair piece.

We had one team lose two hair pieces at one competition this season so far... There was only like four parents who even used the posh ponies. I am not a fan of hair pieces for that very reason. It's embarrassing to be "that team" who's parents hrow them in and do not properly secure them. Loose hair pieces...lost hair pieces.. could become a safety issue. If someone trips over said piece, or if said piece gets wrapped around someone's hand in a cradle and injures someone. So many things can go wrong.

My kid wore a PinUpPony for 3 years. The way that things is hog-tied to your head, I cannot fathom how it could come out! Seriously, it reminds me of a car seat with the anchors and tethers and belts...takes all of 5 min to secure it and your done. It barely moves, let alone fly off a head, lol! I personally cannot French braid at all, the the braid/ponytail would be a no go for me.
