Maybe listed as an alternate?
Idk but she had pictures of what looked like back stage with a medal and a ring. So either they found a way to put her on the roster or she was simply wearing someone else's for a picture....

Always been curious about how these things work.

Other weird situation I wonder about: When teams do tryouts for Summit and shuffle around Worlds crossovers. If you were on the team all season but could not be on that team for Summit, do you and your replacement BOTH GET RINGS?

(I don't know who you're talking about or what the picture is.) I don't think athletes get rings AT worlds. They are sized and then sent off to Jostens/Herf Jones who produces them. The athletes and coaches usually get them a couple months afterwards. So the legitimacy of the ring that person has in that picture is questionable.

You can buy worlds rings online (here) but the order form suggests you will be verified to make sure you we're a part of/associated with the winning team. It's $250. I assume that the "athletes on the floor" get their ring costs covered by USASF. Anything extra might have to be paid for out of pocket. The gym might buy rings for alternates or injured athletes who were apart of the team but didn't compete at worlds. Or the gym might verify the athlete was apart of the team and leave the cost up to the athlete.

The medal could have been borrowed or a coach might've asked for an extra medal. I couldn't find anything about medals, only rings.

OTHER CURIOSITY ITEM:

I know NCA comes with a jacket. Majors comes with a medal. So does UCA with the jacket. Worlds/Summit comes with the simple ring.

Then I always see the larger custom rings for teams for the major comps like NCA/Majors.

I'm going to assume that's something optional the parent pays for (like state rings for football?) I cannot imagine these custom pieces being gifted to athletes?

They are purchased. We had the option of buying our NCA ring. I'm kinda sad I passed on that, but it was around $400.

I remember Bluecat stating that the details behind that was kept private but I wouldn’t compare the two situations.

I am in no way trying to compare them. I just had a vague recollection of it and indicating that it’s possible to elect to get a ring for someone who was not on the roster.

Sorry correction she had a picture with her backstage trying on a worlds ring. Thats what i meant originally. Again dont truly know if she was given a medal or was using someone elses for the sake of a picture. idk

If Worlds is like Summit...you definitely do NOT get your ring right away. It takes 2-3 months. At Summit you get the individual banner right away and can purchase “Summit Champion” shirts right away. You get the jackets at NCA and CS, and CS also gives you a “Champion” medal. Both have t-shirts and pins you can purchase in the Champions room. You can buy NCA rings after the fact...they are gorgeous. Much prettier than Summit but I like the price of the Summit one better, lol. I am not sure if CS has rings? It’s fascinating the sheer amount of stuff Varsity markets to their “champions.” :)

Cheersport does rings. They are about $250 I think? It worked out as £200 when it factored in exchange rates.

So at least we got an official resolution to the global mess! Good on iasf for resolving and addressing it.
