All-Star Well Now What Are We Are We Supposed To Talk About.

I have no special information about the situation, but I believe the argument is that one of the US teams should not have advanced to finals in the first place.

I remember that part but it went on they she is suggesting that they make OO5 and nfinity co champions and give them 3rd place. Or am I really confused? That to me makes no sense to me. I understand they are upset that they got pushed to 4th and they feel that USAF’s made the wrong decision but to force a team to share is not right. They didn’t even make Midnight and BSB co champions and they truly tied in finals.

I’m confused as to why they she suggested they be named co champions? They didn’t tie in finals.
I think shes talking about the top two be in 1st and then they move up into third, or at least thats how i read it.

Given what took place, we believe Top Gun and the other U.S. team should be co-champions, Australia should be getting silver, and we should have our bronze,” said Vonlanthen.

My guess is that Power cheer doesn't want to punish OO5 because USASF/IASF screwed up.
I'm glad though that someone finally wants to hold the USASF/IASF accountable. There have been so many instances in the past where they didn't follow their own rules. Maybe this helps to avoid further "issues" in the future.

Wow I hope there’s another article when/if there are any updates (not holding my breath). I work full-time in sports regulation and have often thought that if these sorts of things were to happen in any other sport there would likely be legal challenges.

It is an interesting solution for sure, for which there’s no precedent, or rules to fall back on. But I guess this makes it clear that there aren’t any special IASF tie breakers... I definitely think that it is important to be addressed if we are moving towards a more Olympic type format. I thought that by having open divisions that were not International World’s was a solution to these kind of issues. Guessing we won’t see this particular issue again. Or we could see more vaguely worded rules to allow more discretion I suppose.

ETA: Do programs have a legal standing to pursue action?

Also would be interested to know if Mr. Stella does respond to Global News.

Ok I didn’t read most of the worlds threads-I usually keep up but I had to work that weekend-so why was oo5 allowed to make finals?

They tied with USA Starz as the 3rd America team, according to the article Les Stella made an executive decision to allow both teams to advance to finals. That has happened before due to several reasons in the past.

did that division finish before small coed finals..

If there is legal action, I believe USASF/IASF will be forced to make their tie breaker ruling less vague, at the minimum, so that we won't have to guess when it will be used and when it won't.

It's absurd that a freaking world championship doesn't have iron clad rules to break ties. The USASF/IASF is actually sad in how poor it is organized

There was really no reason, they just tied with USA Starz in semis but had like 13 pts in deductions so they should have been the 4th US team - the IASF just chose not to enact the tie breaker rule and let the 4 teams through

There were rules for tie breakers. In this case they weren't followed.

Cheer Canada also made comment on the two issues with the bronze placements for two other divisions (IO Global and IO5.0). They released a statement today about the bronze debacle. Worlds was a bit of a gong show and now IASF is having their feet held to the fire.

ETA: it was just emailed out but should be posted on their website soon under newsletter archives.
