All-Star Canadian Team "robbed" At Worlds - Thoughts?

“Given what took place, we believe Top Gun and the other U.S. team should be co-champions, Australia should be getting silver, and we should have our bronze,” said Vonlanthen.

As much as I do feel sorry for them, and I do believe if the circumstances were different they would’ve medalled, but what they’ve said above wouldn’t make the situation better nor would it reflect on IASF any better.

It just wouldn’t make sense for Nfinity and OO5 to tie when OO5 had the higher score during finals. Even if USASF and IASF have different policies, it would be a serious middle finger to BA Senior Black who actually tied with PA Midnight.

also. OO5 tied with USA Starz, even though they had a lower basket score than they should have (which judges admitted was a mistake) So if the judges would have given OO5 the basket score (which is not comparative, it’s based on how many you do), OO5 would have made it without a tie. USA wouldn’t have made it. so whether they let in the top 3 or top 4, pct would have placed the same. I get that it’s frustrating that they didn’t break the tie, but there shouldn’t have been a tie to begin with. They placed exactly where they should have.

You get a medal, and you get a medal, and you get a medal! It's comical at this point. With the way this sport constantly changes its rules (or picks and chooses when to apply them), there were bound to be issues at Worlds.

Any glaring scoring errors should be rare, and when they do happen, they need to be ironed out BEFORE Awards. Awarding a team 7th place, then bronze medals, and then telling them they really got 5th is just insanity. And the scoring needs to be computerized as much as possible so that it's not possible for a 4th place team to accidentally rank ahead of a 3rd place one. Every kid with half a brain on the internet spotted that error right away on the Non-Tumbling results page, yet it doesn't seem like anyone in charge bothered to double check the results. Awarding multiple medals based on silly problems like this or announcement blunders, especially at the most prestigious event of the year, just looks bad.

I much prefer the Worlds scoresheet over the Varsity scoresheet because it allows for much-needed differentiation between teams, but it still needs work. Ideally, you want the judges to be using the same scoresheet throughout the season instead of having to adjust to a new scoresheet just for Worlds. When I looked at the scoresheet breakdowns, some of the difficulty scores given didn't actually make sense based on what was put on the floor. One day this sport will have a universal scoring system that really feels right, but it's not there yet.

I have suggested this to them many times, but they could just widen the ranges on the top end of the Varsity sheet and be SO much better off.

I am DYING of secondhand embarrassment. this is the worst mess I’ve ever seen. There’s an ACTUAL tie in small coed and nothing happens. Yet they “create” a tie in large open coed? I’m happy for nfinity. But they don’t get that moment. 2nd place doesn’t get that moment. 3rd place doesn’t get that moment. OO5 must feel this is unfair as well (since they had a higher score). bsb likely feels this is unfair as well.

so nfinity needs to send all their stuff back and gold get, outlaws need to send all their stuff back and get silver, and then they’re gonna send stuff to pct?

This is actual insanity.

Yes...widen the ranges. It’s ridiculous that they have a “5 point category” that is, in essence, a 0.5 point category because every one falls into a half point range.
