Communicate, bring your child on time, make sure he/she is prepared for practice, commit 100%, pay your bills.

I loved the people who:

*did not tell me how to do my job.
*communicated WITH ME if there was a problem (not another parent or group of parents.)
*paid on time.
*supported the kids in getting them places on time, celebrating their successes, attending team banquets, etc.

Ideal school parents and ideal all star parents are a bit different to me after experiencing both.

For high school, my number one thing is I want a parent that holds their child accountable. When their kid wants to skip that away game because it's raining, they say no and tell them to honor their commitment. They won't lie for their child and tell me their kid is sick to cover for them. When they aren't point flyer or jumper, they tell them oh well and to work harder. We do TONS of routines and sometimes you'll be in the front and sometimes you won't-that's life. Don't make excuses, don't tell them they are the best and if the coach doesn't realize it just quit. No. Just no. Be their biggest cheerleader and help them work through it, but trust the coach.

Second, help with fundraising. We need all the help we can get!

But really, if you are good at the first thing I'll semi forgive a lack of fundraising. :)

My kid is heading into year 10 of AS and year 1 of HS cheer as a senior. The HS got a new coach and his enthusiasm is catching. I went to parent meeting after she made the team sure it was going to be . He is organized. He is really excited about this team. He is sending them to UCA camp. She went to her first school team practice last night after practicing the last month straight for Worlds and Summit and was not able to attend school practices 6-8 pm and said she loved the HS practice even though she had to run the track. :) So I will be back with my HS questions and my camp questions, etc. She did cheer middle school. I am following along on this thread for pointers. My stepmom did donate to the first fundraiser and the coach was thrilled.
