Don’t get me wrong this scoring debacle makes me so mad but just looking on the bright side here-
- An Australian team moved into second (we’re all still sad for QCE but over the moon for outlaws)
- Nfinity earned their rings in honour of their team mate that passed away
-Part of me is also hoping that bsb will be getting rings now...

I doubt BSB's results will change since they actually followed their own rules for that one. But nothing would shock me at this point.

It's really frustrating, all these mess ups, but I'm happy that iasf is at least adressing the situations and coming up with some sort of solution, instead of just sweeping it under the rug. Are the solutions the best? Probably not. But they're some kind of solution.

with all the back and forth im confused at what originally happened....

Four US teams moved to to finals in International Large Open Coed. The rule is top three per country move forward. USA Reinz and 005 tied for third in semis. There is a tie breaker in place. IASF decided to forgo their rules and allowed four US teams in finals. Had they followed rule 005 would not have advanced as they had more deductions. 005 advanced and killed it on day 2 and placed 1st but shouldn’t have been in finals to begin with....

(long time no post bc I’m old now but I’ve been lurking this worlds weekend)

Here’s the thing: ignoring the made up tie, this still isn’t how ties (usually) work. If there is a tie for first, then there would be a “bronze” medalist (next highest score), then 4th, and so on. Because the “silver” team wouldn’t be in second if the top two teams tied - they are third, bc they were beat by two teams. Soooo seems to me like PCT still shouldn’t have medaled even if we ignore the other nonsense.

WHO is making these decisions. I know I shouldn’t be surprised at this point but this year has been like a whole new level for USASF.
Exactly. Correcting a violation of the tie breaker policy by violating a tie breaker policy just doesn’t seem like a proper solution.

Its not actually that you can’t have songs, it’s that you need to pay for the rights for them. Producers like Cheer Sounds sell the licence when you get music for example

That's right - you need to get permission (a license) from BOTH the master (the artist who recorded the song) and publishing (writer/s of the song) sides. So when you hear artists like Arianna Grande, you must ensure whoever is providing you with the music has got these permissions. Very often only the publishing rights are sought, meaning you think you have a license in place, when you aren't actually covered.

The lack of worlds videos is genuinely upsetting to see. These video rules will be the next contribution to the decline in growth of our sport. First, the increase in prices to take part in a sport we love. Then to say we can’t publicly post videos to share what we put so much money, time, and energy towards is almost out of line.

Cant imagine why you’d think not being able to showcase the absolute best in cheer would hurt the sport ;) I can understand a grace period for no posting but would hope they could be posted after that time period. And the whole no volume thing, the reason I’ve heard is music producer rights etc but do we know that music producers actually are concerned with airing these mixes? Aren’t most on sound cloud or elsewhere in the universe anyway?

I see a lot of people liking the way Worlds does it now. It avoids (some of) the spotlight and subsequent shaming on teams that may not be thrilled to hear their name called as silver. I understand the whole "but everyone should be happy with second, because some people never get that..." stuff. The reality is that many teams, especially at that level, may eventually be very proud of that silver, but the moments right after they find out they missed gold is not a happy one. It also quiets the "they got happy too early and therefore were poor sports..." complaints.

They give time to celebrate both of the teams when it is down to 2. That is plenty IMO.
I know I am late to the party but this is so important and I am glad you said it. I agree 100% with this. People are always going to find a reason to complain unfortunately.

I’ve only seen about two routines from Worlds. I didn’t buy Flocheer as with time difference and being busy it wasn’t worth it for the live feed and I don’t want to watch the routines on demand with no music. It’s totally killed my Worlds buzz this year not being able to find videos posted elsewhere. I get that they don’t want people recording and posting the feed, but people who are actually at the venues should be able to post videos freely.
