Midwest Cheer Elite did a Wicked themed routine for one of their teams. (and yes, one of the kids was painted green.
It's too bad about the music rules, because a routine using music from the Spongebob musical would be really cute for a younger team.

Hell, I’d do a Spongebob theme now even though I’m almost 30 and have a bad knee... at almost 30 (nobody ever tells you how cheer will later affect your body when you’re still young... or maybe they do but you’re too busy loving your uni in the mirror to pay attention).

Here’s the Wicked Claws from Semifinals.

Back when CP did rec, and they used single songs, a lot of the tiny/mini age teams did themes with accessories. I remember Spongebob, Elmo, and Crocodile Rock (which was not successful because they used crocodile hats that fell, off on jumps). CP’s team tended to do singers-the coach came out for an ‘80’s themed One in full Cyndi Lauper regalia (the girls had big, teased 80’s ponytails with scrunchies sprayed with colored hairspray and gloves).

The older levels looked more like cheer, but those little routines were fun to watch.

Yeah , I saw one on twitter. The kid went all out for the Summit, and every visible bit of skin is green.

I love themes and I appreciate their commitment to that theme, but thought that the green paint was distracting. It’s a cheer routine, not a theatre production. That said, props to that kid. That’s a whole 1.5 hours added to her prep time, I’m sure.

The theme was cute, but i could only focus on the girl painted green no matter how hard i tried to focus on other parts. I'm curious to know if some judges through out the season made a comment about how distracting it may have been to have that....

This should be their theme next year. It could be epic. The more I think about this theme, the more I want to see them do it.

So if you know how to contact them (email address is oddly difficult to find, I already tried) or are connected to them somehow, please pass this info on because I’d love to see those kids do some jazzercise/hip hop/swing choreo in yellow TGLC leg warmers. I am not even kidding. It almost feels irresponsible if we DON’T make sure they’re aware of this idea.

I was watching a dance on YouTube and thought that TGLC could pull this theme off. The Greatest Showman. Victor can be the ring man in front of the mat
