What is the calendar cut off for the bottom age? Is it the full calendar year or is it something like the USASF and like a certain month?

You have to be the age some time during the second year of the season. If that makes sense? So say the age is 10-18 for the 18-19 season, if you turn 10 at any point in 2019 you can enter, if you are 18 at any point in 2019 you can enter.

So for 19-20 season (Aug-Apr) , if she turns 10 in Oct 2020, they can be IJ2?
I don't know the exact age grid as it's a tad different from Swedens, but if 10 is the bottom age for iasf, then yes! Any time before January 1st 2021. [emoji3526]

OK grid gurus, riddle me this. Due to the age span of several level three athletes, the gym is entertaining the idea of international jr 3 (which is 10-16). I read the whole thing age requirements are if they had been a certain age in the calendar year of the competition.

The rub. Friend of CP has a birthday of 1/1/03. Meaning she's turning 17 on 1/1/20. They were telling her that this International J3 would be an option for her BUT wouldn't that mess us the comps after the first of the year?

Meaning comp on 1/17/2020 she is only 17 in 2020. Would she no longer be eligible? Am I overthinking this?

JK read that wrong, that's a good question.
I don't think she can.

My understanding was that if you are 16 at any point in the year you can still be included at that age group... since she was born after midnight some time on January 1st she still has to be allowed in IJ, since she was technically 16 for part of 2020. If someone born on February 3rd, 2003 can still be IJ, then she should be allowed as well.. but honestly who knows at this point. I don't exactly know if the rule counts on the upper end of the age group the same way it does on the lower end

TL;DR: I think the dates of Jan 1-Dec 31 are inclusive for the age group, good to go - but I would still shoot a message to someone at IASF to clarify

They need an online cheer age eligibility calculator. LOL

Cheerleading Canada had one last year, it was super helpful. I was looking for it earlier but they seem to have removed it for now, which is why I posted the picture above that has an example of being on the older end of the grid :)

If they ever put the link back up for the age grid calculator I'll post it here.

I was joking, but that is awesome.

International (IASF) divisions an athlete must meet the age requirement on or before December 31st, 2020 o Example 1: If a 13-year-old athlete is participating in a division where the minimum age is 14; that athlete is legal for the division if the athlete turns 14 by December 31, 2020 o Example 2: If a 17-year-old athlete is participating in a division where the maximum age is 16; that athlete is legal for the division if the athlete was 16 years old between January 1, 2020- December 31st 2020.

super super confusing when the birthdate IS January 1st. My guess would be she’s ineligible but that’s definitely a tough one!!

I've never been able to get a clear answer on the maximum age part. The minimum one is fairly clear but no one seems to have great answers about the maximum!

So supposedly this was double checked. The calendar date used by the computer to figure eligibility is 12/31. So even though her birthday is 1/1 she would be eligible? Not sure if I believe that and would bring my copy of the email everywhere with me but there you have it.

NOTE: I have not seen said email. I am not an expert. Don't take my word for fact at all :)
