The language these gyms are using is interesting. They are not saying that they are being taken over by Twisters, rather that they will continue to be independently owned and operated. They will use Twisters resources (choreo and guest coaching), branding and industry knowledge. So, the same gym with a different name. It's confusing to me.

There is also some chatter online about additional locations being announced soon.

Maryland is a small market. These gyms will be competing against each other.

Around here, some multi location gyms don't go to the same comps. Even if they're not directly competing against each other (for example small vs medium J2), they'd still be competing for bids. This means they sometimes have to go to an out of town comp instead of a local one that another location is attending.

The exception was Cheersport when all locations of several local gyms attended I believe.

I think @alpaca meant competing against each other as in for the same kids, the same parental $$, etc. Maryland, in that regard, is TINY.

This is exactly what I was wondering about. Salisbury is 2+ hours from the main gym, so I doubt there will be a ton of commuting there, but Gaithersburg and Harford County are both under an hour and tons of kids already commute from both areas to be on MDT's teams. I'm wondering if these are going to serve as "feeder" programs for the big gym.

Maryland is so heavily saturated with programs that it boggles my mind. If you're willing to drive up to an hour from the Baltimore area, you could literally choose from 10+ gyms. ETA: People in the Harford County area can also commute up to DE and PA for teams, depending on where they live.

So it's like New Jersey then;)

Texas Lonestar Cheer is closing after 25 years. They had use to have some great routines in the past and I actually didn’t realize they were still open.

They had a LAG5 there for a little while and several D1 Summit teams but I think had mostly been competing D2 lately?

New Cheer Extreme in Myrtle Beach. No idea how many that makes. I think at some point you have diminishing returns on additional locations, not sure what that number is though.

Additional locations absolutely have the potential for diminishing returns. There was a recent local acquisition, and a friend called the flagship and asked if the acquired gym would be the same quality. And the flagship pretty much said "No, we will mentor them and share a brand but that's it"
