Maybe if we had videos being allowed to be posted online without them being removed more athletes would be able to see exactly what cheerleading is and would join the sport. I know a ton of people who found out all star cheer through YouTube but the likeliness of that happening now is much lower due to flocheer/varsity tv copyright rules. Not sure if Im the only one that feels this way.

You are not the only one that feels this way. It is frustrating that someone other than the gyms, coaches, athletes, and/or their parents "own" (or have "sold") the rights to those kids' performances.

panthers dropping from large to small in one year, i think proves that most teams dropping a size isnt intentional or a strategy move. It happened back then, and it happens now and probably will happen more frequently due to the rising costs of the sport.

I can't speak to why other programs have changed divisions, but Panthers changing divisions those years was an intentional scoring/strategy move.

did that many girls age off to go from large to small, or were that many girls moved to other teams? I never knew that is was a strategic move back then.

I don't remember the specifics of the Panther graduation numbers, but we had multiple Worlds teams those years. I think we had more total at tryouts at the start of the season, but we thought stacking many of our strongest kids on a smaller team would lead to better results.

I don't like that USASF removed the XSmall limitation it had on gyms when they first made it. If the intention was to add XS to accommodate smaller gyms, why are they letting big gyms into the division? I don't think it's necessary for SOT to be in XS when they have 2 other L6 teams. More divisions limit competition and if Large/Medium is struggling because gyms can't field bigger teams, why are they adding another division to let gyms enter? Why not just lower the number of athletes on the floor overall?

This!!! Couldn’t have said it better.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I really, really wish that a program with multiple Worlds teams from the SAME location should not be allowed in the x-small division, at least from that specific location.

I agree with the exception of allowing gyms to have an International Open (IASF division) team(s). Especially a level 7 since anyone senior aged isn't eligible for that divisions/level.

I understand that position/opinion but I do think there are scenarios that make an xs a viable option for gyms with more than 1 worlds team. Gym puts together a medium coed team and they still have girls that have solid level 6 skills but didn’t make the medium senior 6 team and team has to stay medium based on number of males. Or reverse scenario. Very few level 6 boys but a lot of level 6 girls. So gym makes xs coed team and small or medium all girl. If XS wasn’t an option what would be the alternative for those athletes. Level 5? Most would say that’s sandbagging... kids with doubles and one to fulls shouldn’t be on “restricted team”.
