Unfortunately these divisions are only going to have NON AMERICAN teams in them. The USASF doesn't recognize Open 5, Open 5 Small Coed, Open 5 Large Coed, NT L7, or NT Coed L7 as divisions.

And if you can't get a bid outside of your home country, then there will be no American influence in the divisions. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing, but I don't understand how you can have a WORLD championship while excluding one country from participating in 5 divisions.

Just my thoughts.

So wait - are US teams no longer allowed to compete in any IASF division? or just NT? because there are TONS of US teams who competed IO and global last year

USASF opted to not allow teams in the following divisions for the upcoming competition season: Open 5, Open 5 Small Coed, Open 5 Large Coed, NT L7, or NT Coed L7. American teams can still compete in International divisions 6 (tumbling and NT), global, and tumbling 7

IASF have just announced that bids now need to be earned in your own country (unless there are no comps offering bids in your country).

Hopefully should improve the standard of teams that make it to Worlds. There are a few pretty dodgy British teams that go to Germany or Ireland for bids as there's less competition and a ton of bids being awarded.

Yeah, agree. The way I read it NT L7 & NT Coed L7 is not an American division. I don't think USA teams can enter NT L7 or NT Coed L7.

You're right. US based teams can only enter Level 7 as tumbling teams, as in the past with IO6/IOS/LC6. Level 5 (former 5R) is offered in the US, but only as a Club division, and not as an International Worlds division. So International teams can enter any divisions on the IASF page. USA teams can only enter divisions as posted on the 2 USASF divisions below. It was a decision made by USASF to not offer NT7 or IO/IOC5 at Worlds.

My photos of the different divisions won't post. :(

Since USASF and IASF seem to be separating themselves more and more, can we call it like it actually is; win an IASF division and you're a world champion, USASF divisions are only national champions. And then ban every other competition from calling themselves a national.

There is basically zero chance of the event producers giving up the "National Champion" title. (In fairness, they were calling themselves that long before there was a USASF.). If the event producers (or one in particular) really don't want something to happen, there aren't enough votes left to force it.

If that were to somehow happen, I would be fine with the change you propose, assuming you made ICU be geography-based (which it is) and IASF 100% club-based where you advance on scores alone without geography playing a part. There would be teams that would bail on the USASF side and chase a better-sounding title, so the IASF divisions would get more competitive. I'm not sure either USASF or IASF want that.

But any Country can compete in the USASF divisions if they choose to.
I've always been curious about this because you do see the odd non-US team, usually Canadian, in a non-US division. Does anyone know how a non-U.S. team competing in a USASF division would get a Worlds bid? Do comps outside the U.S. have bids available for teams entered in USASF divisions?

In Canada, any teams in a Worlds eligible division who declare that they are going for a bid is eligible. I'd say 99.9% of all comps (and possibly 100%) got with the highest scores to hand out bids, once they've all been 'evened' out to 100 (ex. NT was out of 80 I think last season, but they gave the equivalent score out of 100 to compare to other divisions). I've never seen a declaration of certain numbers of bids for different levels or USASF versus IASF teams as seems to happen in the US. Pretty much, all teams are eligible for all bids at all comps**. So USASF Sr level Canadian teams needs to beat out the IASF teams to get a bid and vice versa. Basically, our bids are labeled for USASF or IASF. They're all just Worlds Bids

**The exception was with Global/NT teams being the only ones eligible for the Global/NT 'extra' bid that was given to each competition. But even they were eligible for AL and paid bids by the end of season. Lot's of EP's just labeled the extra bid as another AL for anyone who wanted to compete for it.

Actually, I just doubled checked and Swedish teams can only win bids to IASF divisions, and they are only awarded based on placement at nationals. Teams are not allowed to pursue bids at other events. So even if there would be a team that wanted to compete in a USASF division, there are no ways to receive a bid. I'm not sure if other countries have similar limitations.

Sorry, everything I have seen gives the impression Worlds Senior and Open Divisions are open to every country, but if there is no way to get a bid then that doesn’t make sense. :/

The main difference was top ten scores move on instead of top 3 from each country.

Unity Allstars Royal from England have competed in USAF Senior Medium Coed for the past two years. Fairly sure that most EPs here have a number of partial paid and at large bids that they're able to award across all Worlds eligible divisions, usually dependent on score.

For 2020 Unity Royal are going back to IOSC6 and currently have an AL bid.
