Exactly how many schools work that closely with their band that they’d want to fundraise to go to Florida to play a song for the cheerleaders.

I’m thinking our band director would laugh at me.

If we could even have a conversation w/ our band director that doesn't end w/ him being selfish and thinking his band is god's gift to the world and we are just peons in his kingdom would be great.... this is a hard pass

If they could coordinate it along with Festival Disney, maybe. But I can’t see Band boosters being willing to do the fundraising required for a Florida trip just to play a song as part of a cheer routine. I envision that category being dominated by Central Florida schools....because no one else can afford to bring an extra 20+ people (assuming a SMALL pep band)!

This is actually laughable. My HS in jersey had a pep band of over 100 kids. The program is HIGHLY successful and nationally recognized whereas our cheer program is lucky to make it to semis at nationals each year. Those kids are already paying an arm and a leg for marching band comps and regular music comps throughout the year, I did choir in HS as well so I’m pretty aware of those costs and time commitment. If our cheer coach were to approach the band director about this they’d be laughed at.

Band isn’t a cheer accessory at football games and those kids have more important and more worthwhile things to do with their money then throw it at a Disney trip that doesn’t benefit them or their playing at all. In all honesty they’d be pretty offended to even be asked. But again, this is a perspective from a school where band was the end all be all and cheer was laughed at.

There are a decent number of schools that do Festival Disney, so for them, it might not be an extra trip if coordinated. I also assume they want a pep band of maybe 20 people, like used for basketball games at the college level, not the full Marching band, which would totally overwhelm the Fieldhouse at WWOS (and I find the idea of a matching band from a AAA or AAAA high school in the arena somewhere between appalling and humorous....), and Festival Disney is usually held at Magic Kingdom, so it would be possible (although housing would be an issue, since high school kids usually are stuck at the value resorts for band).

I was. Band kid, and we did play songs for the cheer team for sideline, and the cheer team would sometimes do dances as part of our field shows, but we never competed together, even at local/regional competitions.
