Because whoa. This season is shaping up to be another dumpster fire. And not in the fun way. In the racist way.

This season we’ve got three POC’s and one older guy who are sort of the outliers in the predominately young and white cast. All four of them were targeted in the first week. Two of the POC’s are already out the door.

I really want to like this season but I’m already skipping episodes I know will frustrate me since even though this is a reality game show, these are still actual people with actual BS views. And in real life, for every low-key racist there are at least 200 people in their whole lives who told them it was okay to be that way. Which makes this unenjoyable.

Is anyone else already super uncomfortable?

I watch it religiously... LOVE this show
I agree with you on the majority of the cast this season being complete idiots. The Jason MA-Moron look alike is probably one of the most ignorant, inconsiderate and socially unaware individuals I’ve ever watched on reality TV. With that being said I’m hoping this experience and the clear aftermath he’s going to face when he leaves will be educational and eye opening.

YES. AND IT’S ONLY LIKE THE SECOND WEEK.

I was all ready to like Jason Mimosa. He’s hot and has a black Lab. Done.

But then he quickly revealed himself to be just SO awful. I mean, I come from a progressive and diverse area which I think makes me more sensitive to things you can/can’t say more than most people, but even so... he’s had to willingly ignore PC culture for awhile now. You can’t call women b*****s anymore. And you really can’t do it when you’re a white dude and she’s a woman of color. You can’t shame people for what they eat. You can’t assume the plus-size model needs your attention “to feel better about herself.” SHE’S A WORKING MODEL. She’s doing just fine without you.

But he’s HOH so we’re stuck with him for another week. Eeesh.

I've been out of the loop for a couple of years. Don't worry, I heard the racists usually get fired from there jobs.

I’m sure they’re all headed for some fallout when the show is over. The most disturbing part of their behavior is how organic the hatred is. It emanates from them and dictates their actions. They don’t really say or do anything explicitly wrong. They just target the POC’s to be evicted almost like a reflex. It’s just who they are and what they’re about: being scared of people who don’t look like them.

I am usually all about BB but this year we missed the premier and I haven’t caught up. This makes me not even want to bother, I hate when the cast is a bunch of idiot bigots.

It’s my first season of Big Brother ever, I’ve seen clips from previous seasons but that’s about as much I’ve seen.

I decided to tune is this time because I’m a religious follower of The Amazing Race, and the season that just ended featured teams from previous Big Brother seasons. I heard a lot about Janelle and wanted to know why she was praised for being such a good player, and wow... she was so good at the challenges (which are my favourite parts and why I’m giving BB a chance)

Even though I really dislike reality shows where who stays and goes is based off a social game and not how skilful you are (one of the reasons why I love The Amazing Race), I’m willing to give this show a shot.

It’s usually very enjoyable summertime TV full of big stupid games, gossiping, and showmances... nothing that really demands too much from you and makes for great escapism. It’s a lot less physical than Amazing Race, but is still interesting to watch.

However, I might skip this year as your inaugural year. It’s getting kind of ugly already and might leave a bad taste in your mouth. Most of the time CBS gets casting right with a decent ratio of likeable people vs. love-to-hate villains, but this time everyone just hates the villains because they’re real-life awful. Which completely destroys the escapism because you’re always being reminded that terrible people exist and actually might be rewarded for their behavior at the end of the show. It does not make for a very fun ride. I watch Big Brother to forget about real world problems, not get my face shoved in it.

In conclusion, maybe wait a year. Hopefully CBS will learn not to give virulent racists a platform by then.

Yeah I’m at a point where I’m not watching anymore until the two worst offenders are gone. (It’s suspected they both dropped the n-word in conversation amongst themselves, but the audio is unclear. Still, it seems in line with their relentless targeting of the minority population in the house. As of next week, 3/4 of the POC’s will be gone. All the white people remain. It’s been two weeks.)

But until then, it’s hard for me to watch two awful people be awful to others and know they might be rewarded for it in a few weeks. Takes the fun out of it for me.

I am following this year. but i feel like you. its a cray year again. i gave up after like 5 weeks last year so.. In sweden we used to have Big brother too but completly different. and the US version is tame in comparison. so i will probably try to watch this season but i agree its a craycray season.. My favorite US season probably is either 18 or 19. i have only watched since 16 though..

I keep hearing that European versions of American reality shows are so much more brazen lol. It’s crazy to me. I didn’t think the Jersey Shore could get much worse. But then came Geordie Shore and its mild flirtation with domestic abuse. Mind = blown.

yeah ive heard so too. That is why i enjoy big rother US so much more. Thankfully sweden hasnt had BB in quite a few years now. But sweden still has reality shows. One that you guys actually have that are nspired by a swedish show is Survivor wich is inspired by Expedition: Robinson in Sweden.

The only person from this season I'm mildly familiar with is Tommy. But I don't have cable, so I can't watch it to see if he's one of the terrible people. It'll suck for him to find out the job he left to go on Big Brother won't be there once it's all over, though.

As far as I know, he’s one of the few likeable ones. At the very least, he’s inoffensive. The worst people are saying about him is that he’s paired up with Christy (but it’s because they knew each other pre-show so I don’t really fault him for that), and that he’s trying too hard for America’s Favorite Player. But I mean compared to the rest of these n-word dropping bullies, he’s a peach.

I would DIE to go on BB. It's been my dream since I was 5 years old and I am most definitely applying every year until I either make it on the show or I die.

Fun Fact: Analyse from this season just graduated from my college. She was on our soccer team and I was on cheer.
