wanted to get some advice to tell my daughter, who is new to Coaching (2nd year). She coaches a Rec team. 12-14 year olds. What are your thoughts on a "consequence" or "punishment" for dropping a Flyer? I have my own opinion about it but wanted to feel you guys out. Thanks in advance!

At my child’s gym, when a stunt falls during a full out...the entire stunt group does burpees and standing tucks after. Usually, a fall isn’t one person’s “fault,” and I never hear the term, “dropping a flyer.” It just doesn’t make sense at my cp’s level.

Why punish?

The goal of practice is to PRACTICE THE THING until you can't get it wrong. Using conditioning as punishment does not do that. It also helps them to learn to hate conditioning.

Stunt falls? We'd go back to drills to address the issue and team does those, and practices doing it right, until they can't do it wrong.

Stunt falls happen. But if a flyer hits the ground hard, they get a warning, first time. After that the group conditions briefly. A third time they're done stunting for that practice. Not stunt falls, but a flyer hitting the ground hard with no real attempt to catch her
