How are you doing that? I’m helping organize middle school tryouts and we’re thinking of doing some sort of video submission.
Here is the link: Tryout Info - Tulare Union Cheerleading

our judges and tabulators will get together the day after everything is submitted ( 18th ) and score each submission on a physical score sheet and tabulate live rankings.

Aren’t you the same person who started the thread about people peeing on each other while stunting?

Is this the same coach?

If so, why are you still dealing with this program?

it seems you have consciously made a decision to stick with a program being coached by someone you have already demonstrated that you do not trust.

Yes this is the same coach. The peeing thing became a non issue because most of the team refused to base her.

I absolutely do not trust her, she’s not a coach IMO she’s a math teacher. I let my daughter try out again because she wants a jacket and to cheer in college. We had a frank discussion though and I told her I was absolutely against this and if she was injured again because of the coach she’s off the team. She’ll get her jacket now and have varsity cheer on her transcript so I won’t allow her to remain in the environment.

Not trying to be flip and I don't know where you live, but Corona virus anyone?? I mean the days of symptomatic, highly contagious people co-mingling with the otherwise healthy really should be behind us. Shame on that coach.

To her credit, she didn’t make them participate. I feel like that’s something she would normally do.

I don’t know how difficult the logistics of postponing tryouts would be, that’s why I was curious and asked the question. There were also JV and freshman tryouts going on at the same time and I don’t know if or how many of those kids were affected. For varsity 7 out of 21 were sick.

This wasn’t just tryout week, it’s also the end of our semester. The girls also had mid terms/finals in there other classes. They are now on spring break and will return to new semester. It’s scheduled this way so when they return anyone that doesn’t try out or doesn’t make it is moved out of the class. In theory it makes sense, in practice doesn’t.
The girls have clinics all week until 6:30 which obviously gives them less time to study for exams. Thurs they had 1 & 2nd period exams, after school was tryout so they still had to stay late. Friday is half day and they had 3 & 4th period exam. 4th period is cheer class & she gave them study hall, after they were already done with exams.

Ours isn’t about the practices... it’s about ordering- can you imagine the mass production BACK UP if everyone is ordering at the same time in April or May ... :/
On this note...has anyone thought ahead about camp? We are scheduled at the end of May. They always go to a water park resort that is already a cesspool.

We are voting to switch to home camps this week. we will not be doing any traveling or large gathering with outside teams until Sept... which is sad because my kids LOVE meeting other teams and making new friends

I’m hoping we do the same. Our girls don’t really get a lot out of camp. The water park they go to is really designed for much younger children. It costs more so not many schools attend and they aren’t allowed to tumble. They have never used anything they learned at camp.

Unfortunately a lot our parents live vicariously through the girls and love spending money. We buy a lot of stuff (ex: new warmups every year, even though we live in Texas so they wear them 1 time year if that much). I’m hoping this camp decision will be out of of our hands. I think home camp this year is much more reasonable/responsible option if we have to do camp.

If things keep up and COVID19 is not controlled, there won't BE anything but home camp as an option.

I fear people are optimistically thinking this will blow over by this time in April (about 4 weeks), everything will be back to normal, the cheer season is mildly inconvenienced and starts up a little late in May with camp on schedule.

I have a weird feeling that that is not the case.

Heard yesterday fittings are being cancelled. Are yall just going to go off measurements? We haven't decided our game plan yet. It's a new uniform year, the kids have been excited for that for over a year now, but now I'm thinking for ease and production time we may keep the same uni one more season. We do an every 3 years cycle so this upcoming sr class is our excited group. I think the rest could care less.

To the original post... yes we have had stomach things basically take out the whole team a few at a time. Two seasons in a row, usually in the fall it will go through the school. Usually just a 24 or 48 hour thing. The only way to deal with it is to stop the spread and let it run its course. We are pretty strict on tryout days, but obvious illness would be modified in some way. I feel any rational coach would agree, but from the sound of it, this person doesn't come across as rational.

And as of Corona virus, these symptoms don't line up, but it's still a very real problem. I see this effecting our season until August or later. We're trying to decide what this means for our school and allstar season. We also are planning private camp in early June, but even that may be up in the air.

I got the same e-mail as well. We are ordering some new items too and are for the most part using older uniforms for fit garments and I am meeting with each cheerleader one on one. That’s not a bad idea to just keep the same uniform for the season...

was that an official announcement from Varsity? That they’re cancelling uniform fittings?
