A step in the right direction.

Basically saying it's going to be cancelled, without really saying it.
Yeah. I feel like it’s still a big, I don’t know. Looks like they’re going to try to reschedule all of it to the first weeks in June, and then maybe do Summit? Do you think they’ll combine D1/D2? Ah well, at least my tolerance for the unknown has increased lately.

ETA: the tweet says cancelled through May. The article says resumes May 8? Any clue which is correct?

It'll be interesting to see how this works out when states don't know when they'll open up gyms.

Ex: A late June event is not feasible for a program whose state just opened gyms like June 15th, but if yours opened May 1st, you could be ready.

I think it's been updated now. I think it still had old info from the last update when they rescheduled the events to be in May.

I wouldn’t say that gyms that open May 1st will be “good and ready” many of them will have taken almost an 8 week break by then [emoji2372] especially for what is supposed to be their premier comp of the year.

I should rephrase that:

You will likely be closer to ready than others.

Let's say June 30th is the make up date.

If you're back in the gym 5/1, you have more hours under your belt than folks from a state that didn't get the all clear to open til 6/1.

Any later than 6/1 is really pushing it.

My guess is they are pushing it out as far as they can so they don’t have to refund people right away when they do ultimately cancel it. They are already saying it will be an extended period before those who have already requested refunds for other comps will receive them.

From USASF Website:
Updated Tuesday, April 7
Dear All Star Club Owners and Coaches We're all doing our very best to navigate through the incredible uncertainty that the COVID-19 virus has hit us all with. We're listening to All Star Clubs and their growing concerns over the health and well-being of the cheer and dance community in addition to the unpredictability of the financial effects on their businesses. While there are still more questions than answers, the USASF will, without compromise, continue to adhere to direction of the Centers for Disease Control ("CDC") and World Health Organization ("WHO"), local and state authorities and experts, and Worlds will only be held if the information coming from the experts indicate large events are once again appropriate. We have been working closely with Walt Disney World (even while they are closed) and our current hope is to host Worlds near the end of June. Be assured that, if Worlds does not occur, or if you already have registered and decide not to attend, you will receive a full refund. These are our benchmarks for decision making:
  • A final decision whether to host Worlds will be made by Friday, April 24, 2020. If it is determined at that time that it will not be possible to conduct Worlds by the end of June, it will be canceled altogether. The current season will not be pushed into July.
  • Also still being considered is the potential of a "virtual" World Championship. More information will be made available of that possibility.
  • As we talk to clubs about their hopes for this season, we're hearing that some have decided to end their season now and some are hopeful for the possibility of an extended season. We understand and appreciate that participating at Worlds is, first and foremost, an individual and then a team and club decision. We know that you all will make a deliberate, thoughtful and best decision for you. When we see you either at Worlds this June or at events next season, we'll look forward to experiencing all of All Star…together.

I wonder why they gave themselves an April 24th deadline to make a decision about rescheduling Worlds when the country is basically shut down until at least May 1. Nothing definitive for June can be rescheduled during April, so I guess it's not happening. It's obviously very disappointing, but it was going to be an asterisk Worlds because of incomplete attendance anyway. June seems like too soon to get a team trained for Worlds anyway. I thought July or August might be feasible (although those months present their own sets of conflicts), but June is too soon.

They're saying they'll decide by 4/24.

Is there any single state planning to even lift COVID restrictions before 5/1?
Theres no state planning on lifting anything by any date. All dates currently seem like assessment dates.

There are a handful of states/organizations who are using the 24th as an assessment date. But i think its just because its the last friday of the month of April.

Right now, current Federal recommendations are to be closed through April, 30. The models that most decision makers are using include social distancing measures until May 31 though. As of this week most states will have peak deaths/hospitalizations in mid/late April. I don’t know. I’ve heard Worlds last weekend in June, combo D1/D2 Summit ( separate but same time) third weekend in June. It’s a stretch to be ready by then. I’m so curious about the April 24 decision date. I guess we’ll know if May will be open by then?

My guess is that some areas are hoping to see the curve flattening and cases dropping by then, so they're hoping to extrapolate that data to see if they fee the end of June would be feasible. My guess is it will be canceled.
