Like @XtremeWpg just stated, here in Canada Trudeau just announced that these measures will most likely be in place until early spring of 2021. There is next to a 0% chance that Canadian teams would be at a Worlds taking place in June.

The fact that Varsity thinks worlds could even be possible in the month of June is absurd. I can't really blame them though, our government has been extremely transparent with their plans and projections.... can't say the same for all corners of the world.
Yea, that timeline is extremely different than what is being said in the US.

Right? We had a family trip to Disney planned for May, clearly that’s gone, and we’re thinking May 2021 for international travel for vacation may not be feasible.

We’re struggling to even set a start date for next season because of the uncertainty. I think it’ll be very last minute that we make the decision and start!!

It seems like the current plan is going to be a gradual transition back to normal. Basically, no there’s no end date, no there’s no idea of when things will be normal, nor do we know what normal will look like. Oh? And PS- stay home and don’t be a moron when you do have to go out.

The language we receive from all levels of government is very clear and transparent.

Will we be paying a ton in taxes for ever to pay for this? Sure will. But to me, that’s the price for keeping people safe, the economy reasonable and businesses operational.

The differences in ideology between Canada and America fascinate me.

I think the governors here have been mostly doing a pretty good job at being clear about everything for their own state, but that's the thing, every state has been very different in how they have handled everything. I think it has been a good thing to have individual rules by state, as each state has had very different experiences, even county to county. Having one blanket ruling across the country would not work as well, IMO.

Ahhh. I was wondering what would happen with SAT/ACT. And my guess is that "acceptable scores" will be adjusted the following year or to. Anyone in high school right now. My kids schoool isn't on the Zoom platform. They don't have real time class with question and answer. They are essentially teaching themselves and emailing questions to the teacher. They are unlikely to grasp the breadth of knowledge needed for high stakes standardized testing.
My kid was depending on two scholarships based on what her SAT scores would have been. So I'm not sure what will happen there. The anxiety.....

Yikes. Your allegiance to CA is showing. Maybe I'm reading it wrong but this comment was kind of uncalled for. SE raw scores were right in line with the top large senior teams even when those teams hit. Reference Cheersport for example - Orange hit and SE didn't and SE had a higher raw.
Posts back and forth about SE winning worlds even in a pandemic.... feels like the old boards again lol

Agree, and there should be a vast difference in the restrictions and monetary intensity levels with a state such as Wyoming with 239 cases and NY with 151,000+ cases. Masks, taking temperatures, gloves, hand sanitizer, chapped hands, and social distancing will become the worldwide social norm, and higher level restrictions will be applied to hot zones as they occur for many months to come.

@XtremeWpg Referring back to your "cheerleading is not essential" comment. If World's happens, there will be many US and International teams that won't be able to participate whether in person or virtually based on their particular restrictions. With that said, every employee wants a job to come back to, just as much as the deemed essential employees. There's no debate if World's happens it won't be the same, but I hope the cheer community will rally around those gyms and teams that can safely help this industry through to the other side. On your comment on Canada/US taxes and ideology, Trudeau/parliament won favor for their 57 billion stimulus package in Canada (approx $1578 cost per person), Trump/congress a 2 trillion stimulus package (approx $6113 cost per person). Rest assured, American's will be paying through the nose in taxes to pull through this safely right along with our Canadian friends.

So many teams have canceled their season and won’t be attending. I feel, if they hold worlds they need to change the name , “2020 end of the year competition” or any name besides “worlds “.

I’m not familiar with the American stimulus package. How much is in it for direct support to individuals vs business/governmental items. I know ours now far exceeds 58 billion at this time. Closer to 85 or 90 I believe once you factor in the additional money for businesses, charities, health care and individuals. Plus whatever it’s going to cost each province for their own measures.

For instance, I’m receiving $2000 a month for 4 months. After that I’ll revert back to traditional employment insurance if necessary. So myself alone, will receive at least $8000 if needed. But I know that we have 1/10 the population of the states, so our package will cost less inherently. I’d have to look into what is in each to truly know what the cost would end up being.

The ideology difference I’m referring to is far larger than just the pandemic response. It’s an overarching thought I’ve had for a while. Just what’s a priority, what isn’t, how things should be handled, where money should be sent etc.

I am probably one of the few senior/super senior athletes that feels this way but I am ok with worlds possibly being cancelled. My grandparents attend all of my competitions and they are considered high risk for Covid-19, and I could never live with myself if they contracted the virus from coming to a competition. I just feel that right now our health and safety are far more important than cheerleading medals and rings from worlds and the summit 2020. Yes, I would love to be able to compete one last time at worlds, but I am also perfectly happy with how successful my allstar cheerleading career has been. So with that being said no matter what happens with worlds I am ok with whatever USASF and/or my gym decides to do. I will admit though it is a sad because I might not get to say goodbye to my teammates and coaches like I would love to. No, this is by far not how I imagined my last year of allstar cheerleading to go but just being able to do it one last year was a blessing in itself and I’m just thankful right now that my family and friends are all healthy and alive. Now it’s time for me to focus fully on my sophomore year of college and SAS spring 21. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.

Love your positive attitude though I've heard rumors of discussions to give another year of eligibility to people in your position (can anyone here confirm?) Not sure if it will happen or if it will interest you but you might not be done yet;)

True. Wondering if our practice wear package next year will include blinged out team facemasks?

For me, I would not want to compete at a World Championship where even one of my top contenders was not in attendance. That would be an enormous asterisk on any title that is won. Not worth competing at all for me.

I think this is what some are hoping for... An easier win. I want to assume otherwise, but I think there are many gyms that will not cancel until they have to, and don't care if they are the only ones in the division (talking both Worlds and Summit). Never underestimate the power of those "win at all costs" coaches and owners.

Right now we are living in a time where having a positive attitude is the best out look on life. Yes, things could be a lot better but they could also be a lot worse then what it is.
I have heard that rumor as well, but until I have confirmation from reliable sources I never believe any of the rumors I hear...lol. I honestly did think about cheering allstar for one more year. But with all I am wanting to do in the next year or so that is college related I think it is time for me to hang up my all-star cheer shoes. Take for instance I am applying for Semester at Sea for Spring 2021, something that has been a dream of mine since the day I found out about this. Sadly, with all-star cheerleading I would not be able to do both of these. I just feel that if I was to try-out for the 2020-2021 season, make a team and not get cut, and then quit during the 2nd half of the season due to Semester at Sea, would make a very selfish person.

There's a one time stimulus check which is: max $1200 for individual tax payers, max $2400 for married filed jointly. Additional $500 per qualifying child under the age of 17. ETA: The amounts will vary by gross income and those that are claimed on their parents taxes will not receive checks.

Then the stimulus expands unemployment benefits. In addition to regular unemployment (it ranges by state $240-790 weekly), the unemployed will receive an additional $600 per week up to 4 months. Regular unemployment is also extended from 26 weeks to 39 weeks. It, also, expands unemployment to those that normally don't qualify such as self employed and independent contractors. People that are unemployed while waiting for testing would receive unemployment. Workers that are furloughed, but not fully laid off are eligible. The 7 day wait period to receive unemployment is waived.
