Knowing some other countries arent on the same school schedules as the U.S, but who says Worlds has to be on a weekend if it's in the summer? Is it possible that if they did have it, that it might be during the week so as not to conflict with other already scheduled sporting events on the weekends?

Not saying they should or shouldn't have it, just wondering why not weekdays IF they reschedule it?

I understand your opinion on FloCheer's feed, I have a subscription, as well. With that said, with the current state of the sport world, sports media is going to have to up their game substantially as an industry. About World's, the latest IASF's announcement stated "Event planned for late June, final decision by April 24, 2020". The majority of states are starting to announce they will be easing up on sheltering restrictions as soon as May 1 (NY and surrounding areas are stating May 15), so it's feasible the majority of states would have 7 weeks prep time IF, big IF, they allow gatherings of up to 50 people. @CheerItFullOut is your comment on "no sports PERIOD in May" based on a statement from a politician? If so, can you post your source? If it's your opinion, that's fine, but for financial analysis I'm collecting this type of data by state and area.

On a different note, government SBA loan funding for the Payment Protection Plan ran out at 10:00 AM this morning from the initial $2 trillion stimulus. They are working on approval for round 2, but I think it's important for people to realize just how quickly this money goes to get a more realistic view on how long this can truly be sustained.
Our state athletic association (TSSAA) announced this week suspension on all sports/clubs/activities for the remainder of the school year and has stopped any and all tryouts. Our school year lasts until the last week of May, therefore officially no sports period in May for us. I don't forsee other youth sports or activities not affiliated with schools resuming before then either.

This is why I'm interested in information by state since 5 didn't have any stay at home orders, and many states are past peak illness and are already past phase one. People are welcome to message me articles or info their politicians are stating by state, so it doesn't take up this thread. I'm particularly interested in information on large gatherings such as weddings/funerals/tourist attractions/sport parks and hospital capacity info (if city hospitals ever hit capacity and had to use their extended medical centers at stadiums, convention centers, etc) information.

Based on yesterday peak illness/death/end of shelter at home information by state:
20 states are past peak illness, 17 states will peak by April 30 and 13 will peak by May 7

Where all 50 states stand on re-opening during the pandemic

I’ve already told my daughter to prepare for the possibility that she won’t be cheering this coming season.

“Peak” does not mean this is magically over 2 weeks later. The White House’s priority is money flowing, not safety, so those “guidelines” mean absolutely nothing to me.

So many viruses have already gone around the gym this past season with nearly half of the team missing practices (or having them cancelled because so many kids were sick) there’s not a chance I’m putting my family at even more of a risk to get this one. Our gym is in a highly populated area and has kids coming from 1-2 hours away and multiple states.

With there likely being a resurgence in the fall I don’t feel comfortable signing a contract next month. Our gym is pressuring us to sign up now for tryouts which are still scheduled to happen before current stay at home orders are lifted. No mention of what tuition/fees will even be until after tryouts. With that much uncertainty we will wait it out. If that means she does a half year team instead then that’s what we’ll do. I know that’s not good for the gym, but my income has been reduced as well and I can’t afford to throw money into the void.

The numbers have shown that the huge regional differences played out rather distinctly, so varying openings, policies, and phases are going to be a reality over the summer. Plus, it is largely accepted that resurgences are to be expected. So planning is going to be tough. Add in that airlines, even with bailouts are going to have to charge exorbitant prices if they adhere to any kind of social distancing guidelines, and the end of season events happening the last weekends in June are going to be tough. As much as they’d like to make a decision next week, I don’t know it is likely. Varsity didn’t give a deadline for Summit(s), so maybe more likely. But, I’m not even sure the event would make fiscal sense, given they’d have to have very loose prepayment/refund policies.

I think Varsity would do well to start planning for a much more regional approach to the 2020/2021 season as well,

The announcements for USASF Worlds and Summit were identical. Decisions to be made by April 24th and the season will not extend past July 1st.

Oh, ok. Sorry.. I didn’t read Varsity statement, was just told by our program. If they choose to go forward with that date, it just doesn’t seem likely to me. There will be multiple states without re-opening plans next week.

I definitely respect the fact you feel uncomfortable signing a yearly contract for a gym, IMO that's hard without a virus with injuries, moves, job loss, etc. Our large gym's contract was month to month.

I haven't found anyone that doesn't understand the meaning of "peak," but I have found many people that believe it's avoidable if they just wait it out long enough. As long as hospital's are under control, and stay under control, there's no reason to prolong this. As soon as the gathering limit becomes 50, I would have no more issue with my kids going to the gym than the grocery store. I'm definitely not minimizing illness and death, this is a horrible virus, but they have already said people are asymptomatic (eta-sp) doing essential jobs. Gloves protect them, but they are touching all things germy and those germs come into our homes daily whether mail, packages, or groceries.

I don’t know, yes the virus does exist on surfaces, but the transmission from surfaces is pretty easy to mitigate with hand washing, disinfectant and not touching your face. Proximity, not as much. Especially with asymptomatic spread.

I agree that we will all have exposure. And that it will impact all of us to some degree. But they don’t have good evidence yet regarding immunity. I’m hopeful that it will play out as most viruses do. But I think it is premature to gauge comfort yet.

This is why I believe that Varsity should highly consider a regional 2020/2021 season. It has the benefits of minimizing crowds, limiting expenses and showing responsiveness to public health concerns. I’m sure it has negatives too. I’m interested in hearing about what those may be. And if those concerns can be mitigated.

Shame on that gym for pressuring you to do/sign anything at this moment!!!

I definitely think next season is going to look much different. Varsity may or may not be locked into multi year contracts, but gym owners can choose what they will or won't attend.

As far as comfort level and immunity, I don't think we are going to have that gauge of comfort for many months to come. I'm heartbroken for the families of the 36,500+ lives that have been lost, but I'm just as concerned for the 22 million (13.5% of all workers) that have filed for unemployment in just 4 weeks. States are suspending foreclosures and evictions at varying rates, anywhere from the end of April to 120 days, but when that time is up... It's a balancing act between two evils, I don't care how dumb people think their politicians are, no one wants to have to make these decisions.
