I definitely think next season is going to look much different. Varsity may or may not be locked into multi year contracts, but gym owners can choose what they will or won't attend.

As far as comfort level and immunity, I don't think we are going to have that gauge of comfort for many months to come. I'm heartbroken for the families of the 36,500+ lives that have been lost, but I'm just as concerned for the 22 million (13.5% of all workers) that have filed for unemployment in just 4 weeks. States are suspending foreclosures and evictions at varying rates, anywhere from the end of April to 120 days, but when that time is up... It's a balancing act between two evils, I don't care how dumb people think their politicians are, no one wants to have to make these decisions.
But Florida beaches are opening.....crazy decision!

Yeah. At a certain point, we will have to make decisions about economy. What I’m speaking to is comfort in this industry. Bodily contact, large gatherings and travel specifically. Yes, I understand completely that opening our economy is necessary and desirable. And I believe it will happen. I’m just saying that widespread exposure risks should be low enough on the totem pole that gyms are working towards risk mitigation as part of their plan.

Oh, ok. Sorry.. I didn’t read Varsity statement, was just told by our program. If they choose to go forward with that date, it just doesn’t seem likely to me. There will be multiple states without re-opening plans next week.
Gyms here cannot open until May 20th....if that happens.

To be fair, the beaches in my county never actually closed. What closed was beach access parking, but the beaches themselves could be enjoyed at any time as long as you remained socially distant. Jacksonville Beach made the news in a bad way yesterday, but the images being shown versus what actual cameras on the beaches showed, were two very different realities.

I’m sure it was, I feel like everything on the news nowadays is always spun in a way to make people afraid. I’m not saying we shouldn’t be concerned, but the constant drumbeat of fear is not a good thing. I know people that are terrified to leave their house, as if walking outside will envelope them in some deadly coronavirus fog.

This ...
P.S.
I feel we need to be extremely cautious and careful... respectful of directive of our state government but some people are acting like if we step outside we will melt into the sidewalk

In other news, I had to leave the house today to mail my mom toilet paper.

Im really surprised that big stores are still out of toilet paper. Our Walmart and dollar stores have started keeping a decent stock, still with limits.

FEAR MONGERING.

Governor Kemp in Georgia just had a press update. Georgia will be opening salons and gyms on Friday, and restaurants and theaters on Monday. Georgia cases are on the decline, and he stated both businesses and the public will need to take precautionary measures for cleanliness and appropriate distancing for their particular business.

Lucky you. Today was only the second time in 5 weeks that I’ve seen toilet paper and paper towels in my Target. The Walmart I go to hasn’t had either since mid March, it’s ridiculous.

That’s interesting considering Georgia had a relatively large number of new cases and deaths reported yesterday. They’re rather high up on the list of states affected. You wonder how much of these decisions are about it being safe enough to reopen and how much of it is about enabling small business like salons and restaurants to make money. I feel a little bad for the governors in charge of making these decisions; there’s probably a lot of guesswork involved and pressures to either reopen or stay closed. But it’s surprising Georgia would loosen restrictions faster than states with far fewer cases. I guess restaurants will spread their tables 6 feet apart and whatnot.

Geez. Fortunately I have an aunt who makes sure we get stocked on house hold items for Christmas so I was stocked on toilet paper. My sister had corona and was in need. I was pretty surprised to grab her a 24 pack. I know where to go if I run out.
