Now that's it's official, can we just ENJOY this?

Right now, every single athlete and coach that was going to summit can hang on to that small glimmer of hope that they could have won it. Sometimes the hope of winning is more fun than the reality of knowing for a fact you aren't a winner. For me, the most exciting time is that week or two before a big competition when every single team is preparing and thinking that they could take it. Let them. Let your coaches and athletes believe that they could have done it... And instead of being disappointed they aren't the 1% of kids that won, let them work hard for next season and still feel some pride and loyalty for their gym.

I think this sucks, but when I think about the reality of it all, I think this is pretty nice for a lot of people in the long run. There is no time limit on your cheer career (despite thinking 18 is the end all be all). You can go to an open team. You can cheer in college. You don't HAVE to be done, and although it won't be this year and this team, you still have a lot of memories and you have something to blame for it not being your dream come true-and it's not your gym, or coaches, or the World's judges. It's something totally out of everyone's control, and man... That's kinda nice. It's nice to all be on the same playing field again, even if just for a little while.

To be fair, I don't think a lot of people really get the impact. I didn't at the beginning. But seeing it unfold here in CA has swiftly changed my mind.

That said, not everyone has a front seat to this thing. For a lot of states, it's still business as usual. So to them, yeah, I could see why they'd want to push through.
I hear what you are saying. I was hoping those gyms saying they expected it to happen and "were all in" were just doing so publicly but privately had been telling their athletes what is actually happening in the broader world. That chances are Disney won't be open for months let alone prepared to hold an international competition... but I guess not! Lost opportunity for those coaches and parents for sure.

I really hope the governing bodies and programs from all over the country come up with distancing measures and plan b for these events next year and move away from a "hope for the best" strategy in the event that the worse comes to pass and it returns. How are they possibly going to wipe everything down in these arenas? Will gatherings of those sizes even be allowed? can it be scaled down in a way that programs can stay in business without such large events? can the season be moved to spring and (gasp) more outdoor spaces where it seems to spread less if it returns next year as predicted?

I feel sorry for the owners and coaches who had to scramble and send out emails and social media posts on yesterday trying to get to their kids before they found out from twitter from him. Some people are saying well an athlete would have spilled anyway. No if the coaches/owners went by the email they would have informed their kids and parents today when everyone knew the official announcement was coming today. I only check CU as a last result on competition weekends but I have noticed if he isn’t your gym pet he could care less about your program. That’s obvious when reading his updates.

I was about to say the same thing.
ETA: And just saw his same minion defending him, it's like deja vu haha.

he has a rather good bit on Twitter. One of the cheer moms that use to have a daughter at the gym I’m at is his #1 minion. I’m positive she would be the president of his fan club.

I get apparently he is a coach or parent to some degree according to others, I dont really know which. But like come on, you ran to twitter probably 5 seconds after finding out, cause beating an athlete or anon to an announcement is more of a priority.....
Im just not a fan of how people can put that much trust and info to someone who started off as a crappy anon himself. I'm just never gonna be a fan of CU
ASGA last night had multiple posts mad about him. Apparently he is a coach and program director (his words.) He had pre-drafted everything, so it was ready to send instantly. He called this being prepared and didn't see the need to apologize.

Its come full circle. Wasn't he disliked and banned from these boards years ago? Now he has ASGA up in a roar.

Instead of informing owners/coaches first why didn’t USASF just announce it themselves?!!
My understanding is when they made an announcement a few weeks ago, coaches and owners complained that it undermined them and that they want big news to come from them. This time around, USASF listened and sent a private email last night to said owners and coaches, so they could prepare for the announcement that would happen today. Only 2 minutes after that email, before most coaches even opened it, CU blasted it to the world. Coaches were upset that at 10 pm last night their phones were blowing up from upset kids and parents, when they didn't know it was happening.

It is probably the same person that was his #1 fan on here many years ago. She had two daughters that cheered, but neither of them do anymore as far as I know.

Man, I didn’t join the board early enough to catch all that T. [emoji23][emoji24]
The boards were filled with soooo much drama back then. It was around 2012.

ETA: I also want to add, that I feel like the people that are the most upset about CU sharing know his history. And are also not at all surprised that he would do it.

I think he has a connection to Tri-State (?) not sure if that’s the correct name. A program in Delaware.

something something not learning from history something something doomed to repeat it ;)

I am absolutely not surprised at anything he does.

On the subject of disgraced fierceboarders, whatever happened to slapfire?

Wasn't that Chat? I feel like I remember he got caught lying to customers about getting mixes done and seemed to just disappear. He was by far my favorite producer back in the day. But I remember him being very shady about some things.

Yep, that’s Chat. I loved the mixes he did for Cali back in the day... still in my running playlists haha.
