All-Star On Worlds 2020

I was going to maybe do a 2020 Worlds bracket just for the hell of it. We could just do our best guesses and then at least have FB Worlds champs based purely on conjecture and affection. Which is almost the same as a gold medal.

I saw on Facebook where someone started a account where they were taking in votes and such on how each team did in the division and who would win. They were having everyone hit 0(from hat I saw) and what not. So many people were getting so mad and upset over it and were saying stuff like “you are toxic and horrible for doing this, you should be ashamed for doing this, this is not what cheerleading is about. I just saw it as someone was just having fun and was trying to make things better for everyone. Crazy thing is, the person had almost every team win worlds.

That’s a shame that people are maligning it. I just thought it’d be interesting to see everyone’s projections based on things like past scores and the rate at which teams hit.

So for example, I’m still not sure if I’d give it to SE or Orange for LAG. My heart says SE, but my head says Orange.

I predicted:

1. Panthers (Peaking at right time with new changes)
2. Orange (clean but literally edged out by tiniest margins.)
3. SE (featuring a bobble they have never had all season in an element that usually hits)

Weird that we'll never know! At least we know everyone is coming back in the gym feeling that "unfinished business" feeling and being super hungry. Hoping that there IS a next season sooner than later.

Some people just aren't happy unless they are "offended".

You are exactly right about that! I mean we have much worse things going on in this world then a “let’s pretend all the teams hit, and all the teams won worlds” Twitter thread. Honestly to me with all that’s going in it was a nice positive to see, and it gave me a much needed laugh and smile.

Interesting take. I’ve had it narrowed down to Orange and SE for months, but Panthers are a team that should never be counted out. I think I’m going to sit down tonight to watch everyone’s videos and sketch out a loose bracket. Have to do something during quarantine.

That's probably what I would've had. Maybe Stars in 3rd, as they have a good history of peaking at Worlds.

Twitter is often a cesspool.

I will still always say you cant count out stars until you see their worlds upgrades and we never did. So in my mind, my stars won haha

Not trying to be snarky since I also love me some Stars, but didn’t they win because Panthers and SE bobbled? I swear I’m not trying to shade them. They deserved the win last year and the fact that they won with a six-week old routine just proves that. But I’m recalling that it was because the bobbles from other teams opened up an opportunity for them, as opposed to having a routine that roundly dominated numbers-wise. It doesn’t negate their victory — being able to hit your routine is as much a part of strategy as the routine itself — but your comment got me wondering.

All divisions, but large senior in particular, are about who hits. Large Senior more than any division, IMO, could be run 5 times in a row on consecutive days and have 5 different winners. Rarely is one team so much better that they can win with mistakes. The routines are so difficult that mistake-free routines are almost always a less-than-50% happening. The result is an incredibly exciting division.

I wouldn't call it a pure toss-up, but in my mind, no team had a more than 50% chance of winning Worlds if all teams showed up. I like our team and that is where my money would have gone of course, but that division is beast - which I love.
