This is basically just an award for attending big varsity competitions

Isn't that what just about everyone does at this point? If you aren't competing at Varsity events, where you are you competing? They own everything. Anyone in the running to win/globe at Worlds is probably going to bigger Varsity events throughout the season. Maybe they somehow averaged out the points so it was based on your results moreso than how many events you attended. But top teams generally go to similar big events. And it says they took into account who you competed against and what bid you won. I'm not sure how they would go about allocating points for that.

It was based on how many teams you beat. So you have to be going to the big events to beat lots of teams. There aren't a lot of worlds teams around us, most comps they will be the only ones in their divisions, even at the largest West Coast events.

Yeah I don't accept this. I'm a little salty Tribe isn't up there because they were doing awesome but if it's how many people you've beaten it makes more sense I guess. I'm assuming their under lrgopencoed and I'm not understanding how FAME would be in first. I can only find them attending and winning one competition, Cheersport, which had I think it was 7 competitors. But I'm not combing through all the comps.

And what even is the point of these results?

There is nothing to brag about there. Scoresheets are different, international teams are not considered and ANYTHING can happen at Worlds.

I have no idea why USASF decided to do this. Was there some kind of pressure from gyms to get some kind of recognition for the season?

I think it’s a nice gesture, if a bit hollow. I don’t really understand how they got to some of these placements. The only one I super agree with is BSB.

Im an SE fan, but I do think think their less difficult routine combined with their documented tendency of biffing at the last minute would’ve made way for Orange at Worlds. Even if they hit both days — which is a feat that seems to elude them — it wouldn’t have mattered if Orange hit as well since Orange has the higher numbers every time.

But all that aside, SE did have the best season they’ve had in years and I think it’s nice that the teams were loosely recognised on some level. I don’t know how much stock anyone is putting into these “results” but it’s a nice gesture.

BSB to me was obvious and SE to a point since they did win all season. I don’t really follow slot of divisions but large coed baffled me. I know the majors isn’t a varsity event but TGLC won that, BUTBT, and cheersport. Beating Steel at all three except for NCA and they managed to somehow tie.

BSB and Lady Lightning are the only two i agree with. All the ties seem stupid. and no one likes a 1st place tie sooo yeah... was it only based off points? or did any overall scores across competitions factor into the results?

I have no problem with USASF doing an end of year recognition, but the execution was horrendous. Allowing a third party to communicate everything on social media without giving a good explanation with it was a mistake, and calling it Worlds anything without acknowledging international teams is ridiculous. And because of the mess USASF created you now have teams calling themselves world champions for a competition that never existed.

Large coed will always be a complete toss up between those two teams for me. They’re so symmetrically talented that I think scores almost are determined by the judges’ subjective interpretations of the choreo as opposed to hard and fast numbers (a tenth of a point here and there based on personal preference, whether it’s intentional or not). So who knows what would’ve happened at Worlds this year with those two.

One thing I’ve always respected about both teams is that they KNOW how talented they are and respect each other’s hard work in getting there. You can see this in their sportsmanship. They’ve always had a great show of respect for each other. I think both teams know that neither is hands down the superior team. They’re both at the top of their game. Whoever wins on whatever weekend almost comes down to chance, so nobody takes offense when they come in second. There is no shame coming in second to either team. They both seem to really understand and appreciate that.

Results from the virtual point championship. Some of the results are weird and don't make sense.

IO7
1. Gymtyme
2. Cheer FLorida
3. OC

For International Open 7 all three teams tied for 1st. So there was no 2nd or 3rd place.

Varsity got Majors awhile back. Majors is currently a Varsity event.
