For anyone who has a child in special education considering the online option, this is from a special education attorney in Georgia. It's a long read with a lot of good information.

Unfortunately, it’s a no win situation. School districts do not have the budget or staff to provide one on one instruction and services to students at their homes. I wish they did.

If I let my teen drive a car with a seatbelt, that’s still taking a risk. So I don’t have the right to criticize those who don’t wear seatbelts?

It’s not an all or nothing situation with the virus. There are different degrees of risk. Masks lower the risk quite a lot.

But yeah agreed. Even safer than stunting with masks would be not to stunt at all.

I learned that the hard way when my boys needed homebound. It's why we homeschool now.

I HATE wearing a mask with a passion especially considering I live on one of the islands in Miami Beach(if you think it’s hot in Miami Beach in general try adding a face mask in the summer heat). But I still wear a mask when I am out shopping, or in an area where a rather large group of people will be. I still haven’t went to any parties or similar large get togethers yet. But when I go to the beach(the ones that are open, we have a good bit still closed especially this weekend I don’t wear a mask. I just make sure I go off by myself away from everyone. I know I should wear one, but if I’m laying out, I don’t want a face mask tan...and yes girls who are biracial do layout :). But Seriously if people can wear masks in the heat of south Florida, I think anyone can suck it up and wear a mask. Plus they have some super cute masks now that can be washed and reused.

Choosing to wear or not to wear a seatbelt affects that person, not other drivers in other cars......cant compare the two as the virus which someone can have and may even not know they have, can be given and affect many many others.

I think it's more saying "I make my teen drive with a seatbelt but also let her drive 30 mph over the speed limit." Doing something deemed as safe but then also allowing something reckless at the same time negates the argument that you are being responsible.

I’m confused. You applauded a gym that started to stunt with no masks. Now you think stunting is reckless, with masks?
It was gyms making the decision to get kids back to activity that I applauded. I am supportive of the masks if the activity can still be done safely, although I do worry that masks need to fit snug so that vision is not impaired. I don't think stunting is reckless and never have. I have allowed (more supported as they are adults) my kids to stunt with their group of people they have been spending time with. However, I do understand people have very differing opinions and experiences regarding this virus and can respect everyone's opinion even when it is different than mine.

Update from my perspective on the mask thing :)

We are now allowed to stunt again by the government, if the group of people stays the same consistently.

We are not required to wear masks while doing this but for my gym i chose to have everyone stunt and tumble with masks on. The Team I coach is Level 7 with a lot of free release inversion stunts.
And I can tell you - it works! It's a little hot, we don't have airconditioning and its summer. But no one complained one second about not being able to breathe. No one gets stuck in it. Worst thing that happened was a mask flying off during a rewind. The excitement and joy of being back at what we love outweighs the small sacrifice of wearing a mask.
We also have our Youth Teams wear masks- same thing, no issues. The kids can take more than we think when it comes to their favorite sport.
We also do not allow more than 3 groups in the Gym at a time so we can make sure there is enough room and a good airflow. Sanatizing hands and mats is a given.

Am I still a little worried? Definitly , because after all the virus is still here.

But we try to keep an close eye on our athletes when it comes to their out of cheer activities and vacations and we know most of them so well , we can evaulate whether they are responsible or tend to be a little reckless. So if there are any signs that make us Coaches think someone might be at a risk of bringing the virus in we ask them to stay home for a week to make sure they are okay.
