We have a team a couple miles away that someone from their gym sits in our parking lot to “catch” us doing something wrong, they have reported us to the CDC multiple times but owners r following protolcal to a “T” 25 % capacity...nobody in gym except the 1 team at a time..temperature taken...masks every minute of practice ....How is that for cheer comraderie? . They have enough to worry about without nasty disgusting spies!

We had the same thing happen at our gym. It is disgraceful.

I gave this a laugh react because I pictured this person in my head peeking out from behind a tree like the stalker in a Netflix movie.

BUT SERIOUSLY IF YOU HAVE YOUR LIFE TOGETHER ENOUGH TO STALK GYMS PLS TELL ME HOW.

IN A PANDEMIC I CAN BARELY REMEMBER WHERE THE ROKU REMOTE IS.

I may be tardy to the party, but has anyone mentioned Spirit of Hope has been moved to Atlanta? If so, oops, sorry. If not, it was moved and it's going to be held Jan 16 & 17 at the GWCC this year.

Does anyone know if the GWCC is still being used as Covid overflow? The last statement I saw from the Governor was posted in July and at that time it was reopened for the overflow.

Wow. I wonder why. Different state / city regulations?

I just saw that Spirit Celebration (the Xmas toy drive comp) in Dallas is cancelled.

Was originally supposed to be in person.

Not sure if cancelled means it's just going virtual.

That's exactly why. NC has restricted the number of people at events. So SOH moved to GA.
Yeah, I cheer in NC live in SC, and the governor in NC is pretty strict, and making it nearly impossible to run things. South Carolina is definitely the place to be! HAHA

It reopened on August 3rd, but Kemp also invested in creating a GA statewide Coordinating Center located at Grady hospital and it's my understanding they do an amazing job at coordinating patient transfers and redirecting supplies, as needed. Because of the Coordinating Center, I don't believe they have had to use the GWCC very much, if at all. I know they reported only treating 17 patients at the GWCC on the initial opening Mar-May and I can't find any articles stating it has been used at all in the second opening.

It was supposed to be this weekend. It is canceled and not going virtual. It was stay to play so some people are left trying to get their money back. It sounds like a mess.

All of California is going back to a full-fledged lock-down within days now. They claim this is necessary to stop the overcrowding of ICUs. I've never worked in healthcare, but why can't major hospitals create another ICU wing to accommodate rising numbers of patients? Or transfer patients to hospitals in more remote areas with more available space? The lock-down is supposed to last 3 weeks, but if this is like last time, it will last months. Covid numbers are skyrocketing despite nobody being able to walk into a public place without a mask on. I don't get it.

I hate how politicized this virus situation has become. It seems teams/gyms from certain states with Democratic governors are going to be at a disadvantage compared to states with Republican governors. It seems Democrats are supposed to want strict lock-downs and Republicans are supposed to want no restrictions at all. How about a happy medium between the two? Do other countries politicize absolutely everything like we do in the US? It's so divisive and depressing and it just feels like everything is about politics instead of genuinely trying to find solutions to keep people safe and well.

I asked about other countries upthread.

I feel like it is definitely less political in Canada/the UK/Europe.

I do work in healthcare (in California). You can't just open hospital beds, other than putting two patients in a room. Hospitals are designed for a certain number of beds, you would need additional doctors, nurses, support staff, to support additional patients. There is already a shortage of nurses. There isn't enough of the very specialized and expensive equipment to just add in patients. The entire state is running low on rooms, remote areas have some of the worst numbers and the smallest hospitals. You can shuffle people around but not when the entire country is running out of beds. Earlier in the summer we had patients from out of state, eventually you hit a capacity ceiling. It's bad and getting worse.

We are closed down in the PNW. It's a bummer. It's so hard watching other teams all over practice and compete, but we got through it once before and we will again. Our gym has been amazing at trying to boost morale. We've done drive by hot chocolate stands, a zoom Black Friday swag order, etc. They've gone so far above and beyond, but it's still so hard for these kids who just want a normal life. We haven't stepped foot in school since March, and the depression and anxiety among kids is high. There are districts here that at least half the kids have one failing grade or more. It's bad. I'm a full supporter of masks and distance, I'm also a believer than we can't shut kids in houses because mental health is as important as physical health. Mask up, hand sanitizer, keep some space and learn how to live with this.
