All-Star Is Cea Over?

A lot of high school kids drink/party, they don't need to be around older people for it to happen. There are plenty of parents who are okay with their HS kids drinking/partying too and enable this behavior. When I was in HS, it was actually pretty difficult to fit in if you didn't drink, which is sad. The stuff I saw about cheerleaders doing drugs is extra concerning though. One thing I loved about being an allstar cheerleader is that I could find kids who were serious about a sport and did things with their lives other than party. But some kids apparently do both. I'm guessing that most drug usage isn't the fault of a cheer gym.

I tried to sift through the chaos, but most of it didn't make sense to me. It would help if these kids wrote in complete sentences. Whatever it is, it sounds messy. Sending inappropriate coaches to other gyms instead of reporting them obviously shouldn't be happening.

I wish someone would tell these anonymous posters though that Twitter isn't real life, and that they aren't making a difference in the world if they write a tweet that gets 300 likes or if they tweet some hashtag a thousand times. If they have evidence of something serious happening, they need to report it to the appropriate people. Usually nothing comes out of tweeting except more drama and people fighting. And then you have adult coaches trying to defend themselves and subtweeting about children (for those who don't use Twitter, this would be like talking about someone behind their back) and it just feels very messy and makes me wish Twitter didn't exist.

IDK about the rumors but I do know that the girl at the center of this is coming across like a spoiled brat. The screenshots she’s posting where she’s talking down to her coaches and trying/failing to get a rise out of them aren’t helping her case. I’m sure she thinks she’s coming across as super witty in those exchanges, but all that’s happening is that she looks like an out of control bully. Her Twitter rants pretty much erase any doubt that that’s exactly who she is.

And I’m sure nameless trolls will eat it up. Unfortunately for her, the trolls are the only people who’ll be in her corner. To anyone who actually matters — like the adults who can shape her career — this will just ensure that she’s “over,” not CEA. I wouldn’t touch this girl at any tryout she showed up at... not when she proudly boasted on her public Twitter account that she was upset at CEA for disciplining her for smoking. That tells me all I need to know.

The rumors might/might not be true, but this is the exact opposite way to bring attention to it. Because now I just think that CEA got saddled with an arrogant, entitled brat who loves tweeting whatever allegation pops into her head but who cannot back anything up. Will not be surprised when her account is suspended for harassment.

You may believe or not believe what she alledges, but I find it disturbing that a child levels very serious claims of child abuse, the owner of her former gym engages with her on Twitter in an antagonistic fashion, and no one asks how she is actually dealing with these very serious instances of abuse. Cocaine? Relationships btwn children under 21 w/adults over 21? Grabbing athletes? These are serious claims. If we say we believe victims, why hasn't anyone asked her or offered her a means to be heard and/or helped. If she is lying, she needs help. If it's true, she needs more help. Either way, this young woman and the other former athletes who confirmed her allegations need help.

When similar allegations are reported year, after year, after year for many, many years, there is one common denominator. This is just another report on a very long list. Messy, sure, but harassment? Yea, thats a hard no. When we're seeing/hearing the same things that were being said 10 years ago, with a whole different generation of athletes, I don't think its the victim that we need to worry about.

And this is not just about one gym, there is no doubt in my mind that these things are happening all over. I'm just glad things are being brought to light and hope something is done about it.

I usually agree with you on almost everything, but I don't know about this. She is not innocent, but she is a child in a very messed up, out of control situation where the adults around her were supposed to protect her. She will grow up and regret that behavior I'm sure, but those are adults. Adults. This feels like we are getting into victim blaming, and honestly I would rather have someone call it out with receipts (even messy ones) than make some cryptic tweets about what sorta happened.

I should’ve been clearer: my distaste for her account of things stems from the abuse allegations and her willingness to overlook them in favor of insulting people (which to me sheds light on what’s really important to her). If she knows about actual abuse like she’s saying, I wish she was more concerned with reporting it than insulting people on Twitter. But I haven’t seen anything that suggests this. All she did was post a Word doc. This implies to me that this is more about dragging CEA on Twitter than it is about protecting victims/prosecuting abusers (also, her allegations include failures on the part of USAF, but she doesn’t smear them nearly as much as CEA). That’s the biggest issue for me: if she knows about actual abuse and she’s using this time to personally insult people’s appearances/careers/children over it rather than reporting it to USAF, then that’s a problem.

Something I just thought about. If these alledged abuses took place with the older teens, the younger teens were witnessing all of these things and normalizing it. So if a 17yo boy is being taken advantage of by his 35yo coach, the 14yos on the team know this. They see it and digest it as "funny" or "gossip", not the violation that it is. That's very corrosive.

To someone else's question, we all know parents who are completely out of touch w/their children. The sport is a baby sitter, or distraction for the child, while the parents pursue their own lives. You see it everywhere in cheer, and out.

My distaste for her account of things stems from the abuse allegations. If she knows about actual abuse like she’s saying, then she needs to get off Twitter and report to USAF like now. But I haven’t seen anything that says she’s done that. This suggests to me that this is more about dragging CEA on Twitter than it is about protecting victims/prosecuting abusers. Is there a means or system for reporting these things? This is the same USASF that isn't fining competition companies for holding high capacity events during a global pandemic (flouting CDC recommendations) & has no real mask guidelines.

Would a big, wealthy gym be held accountable?

Idk if I can really write this one off. Some other kids who have graduated fr their program have chimed in w/their own trauma stories. This is why it's such a shiz storm. That's why I posted originally. I'm wondering if there is an established, system or way to report the types of abuses she alleges.

It would at least be a step in the right direction. The cynic in me believes that no, USAF wouldn’t do enough about it. But I think reporting it is way better than literally doing nothing.

Yea, these same things have been popping up over and over for years. It gets to a point where it can't be a coincidence (and it's been way past that point for many years).
When similar things were being said 10 years ago, something is going on.
The same can be said about every big name gym. I have heard more about both black and blue gyms in the past two years than I have about CEA. I take every post with a grain of salt and disregard anything that comes from an anon.
There are issues in the industry - no doubt. Gyms have issues - also no doubt. A lot of things need to be addressed. Unpopular opinion but parents also have the responsibility to take action rather than turn a blind eye until Suzie isn't happy (and I was guilty of this at one point early on in our cheer experience and could slap myself for it). Gyms shouldn't have to parent if a parent isn't even willing to parent and in this situation in particular it seems the parents were mainly absent and had their own morals issues.
The person posting all over Twitter can say whatever about any adult as long as it isn't slander, but the minute she brought a 4 year old into it and then a gym owner's daughter into it with speculation at best and no facts I lost all respect for whatever it is she is trying to prove. She is old enough to know better and needs to look at her own life and choices as well.

Yep, mentioned the same thing in my other post. Its not just one gym. Though things seem to be more consistent over a long period of time at a few gyms more than others.

I’m going to repeat what I said on yesterday. Where there is smoke there is fire. She didn’t just decide to start saying anything on yesterday, she stated most of all these allegations when she first left the gym. This is also not the first time that particular gym owner has publicly had an exchange with a former athlete on Twitter either.

I mean, should these things be reported to USASF? Of course. But it has become MORE than clear that nothing will be done about it, especially for big name gyms and coaches. Hell, I still watch another owner that was supposed to be “banned” acting like it never even happened. Zero consequences, ever.

Slam her sure, but honestly blasting Twitter probably got more results than reporting to USASF.

Normally I don't put my thought into CEA and their drama; there always seems to be drama there, but then I saw the post circulating about their Abilities team and I'm livid. I'm doing some digging to figure out if what I've read is 100% accurate or not, before I actually say what I feel.

Oh, and I hate twitter. Like, I really hate it's layout.

Carry on.

I'll repeat, I can't take what people report from their time as minor children w/a grain of salt. And saying; "it's all gyms" is not better. Children should not have stories like this. I hesitate to "not believe" accounts from children of abuse because it happens all the time. Especially, if I don't know the character of the adults personally. I'm always suspicious. Children are often tricked by adults in power. Many, many kids have come out in support. It's heart breaking.
Social media is this generation's means of communication.
This is the latest disturbing account (warning: its quite jarring):
