I have not seen anything definitive on that, is it for real now? I know that a LOT of Coed 21-22 is first year athletes because (it looks like) 90% of Coed 20-21 went to other teams (SE, Open Coed 6.)
I saw an athlete say that there are only 2 returners

Not always of course, but boys tend to progress a lot faster than girls. Built differently and usually have less fear of throwing things than girls can have at times.

It’s true. This was me. I progressed super fast. I decided to do cheer for the first time freshman year of HS and needed to get a standing tuck and I got it in like one and a half weeks and made the team. Unfortunately, I now have nonsensical gaps in my skills. For example, I can pull a standing full bhs whip double but I couldn’t do an aerial if my life depended on it… seriously… I’ve tried… many times :(

These names are fantastic, I think Jelly Jags is my fav.

Yup. Look at the NFL players who will randomly throw a messy tumbling skill (like a RO tuck) in the end zone after scoring a touchdown. I even saw one of them do a full. They don't have any tumbling training, they're just athletically gifted men chucking themselves in the air. Girls are built completely differently and would never be able to just fling themselves into a standing tuck on grass without ever having done it before. While I've seen some boys who are weak tumblers and never progress past a handspring, overall it tends to be easier for them than girls.

chucking themselves through the air!
Your so right.

My HS cheerleaders when I coached: (works on tuck all season on JV to possibly have it for Varsity)

My 7th grade nephew who plays football and basketball but has never set foot in cheer a day in his life:

AUNTIE OH MY GOSH DID YOU SEE MY TUCK ON THE TRAMPOLINE I DID IT AND KAY KAY (my niece who cheers) ONLY SHOWED ME ONCE.

Strength to weight ratio & body weight distribution play big factors in male vs female tumbling - particularly standing back flips. Also, guys are often more fearless (foolish?) about trying some skills. (Just general trend, lots of variance from individual to individual)

I was really hoping they would’ve called one of the younger teams Mermaid Katz
