I wonder what cheer as an Olympic sport will look like:

Like an ICU or Global style routine with a cheer similar to UCA school cheer style?
Like a traditional 2:30 sec all star routine?
Like a STUNT or A&T structured competition/routine?
Like a Michigan high school format with multiple rounds?

So many possibilities.

ICU is what went through the approval process, so it has been the assumption from when they initiated it years ago that that would be the style.

The title of this thread is slightly misleading. It’s not in the Olympics (not yet at least), the IOC just moved it from its list of “provisional recognised sports” to “fully recognise sports”.

Having said that, I’m curious what this means for every national teams’ funding by their local Olympic council.
Agreed. The news is positive of course, but I don't think this means much. The question was posed on several industry sites who posted the announcement (ICU for example) with no follow up. Does anyone have any insight?

Pretty sure that's what it will be. Europe has been adapting to the ICU Scoring and Style the last few years. Next big thing besides skills will be a change of uniforms and hair/makeup. Away from all the bling and shinyness towards an athletic ''clean'' look. Since there were several requirements that had to be met for it to be considered as an olympic event I expect it to be very much more collegiate and possibly actually on a dead mat floor.

Wouldn’t make sense for it to be like stunt or A&T. Those are different sports.
