Somebody asked me why my girls have practice uniforms. When my girls first started they didn't. However I personally think it is an excellent idea. I honestly feel like if they look like a team in practice it makes a difference. Not saying that it doesn't but I truly believe that in practice you should be just as on point as in competition.

It helps when doing choreo.... no one stands out in their neon shorts and becomes a visual distraction haha. You can see exactly how every stunt/pyramid/transition/whatever will look when everyone wears the same thing. Plus it gives the girls more of a feeling of being a part of the gym throughout the season....they have gym shirts to wear to tumbling or school or whenever each year and remember the shirts that they got every season.

My first gym, we didnt have practice uniforms and they didnt care what we wore. I didnt really like it. But i just moved gyms and we got practice uniforms and i really do think it makes a big difference in how we act and treat eachother!! It makes us feel like a true team.

Practice wear helps so much, I think.
We have to wear it so that it looks more uniformed when we're practicing our routine, and if everyone was in different things, the coaches eyes would instantly wander to someone that for instance was wearing a neon color.
Also, our squads are required to wear a bow. And I definitely think it helps us practice better.. like we're performing.

at my old gym we were only required to wear our gym colors and most people didn't even follow that...

but at my new gym that i just switched to we order the same practice clothes for everyone and it makes us look/feel much more like a team! i love it :)

It does make a team look better, but I wouldn't wanna ask parents to spend another 200 bucks, just so their child can look good at practice.

Our practice uniforms are only $45 - They are only two t-shirts and two different bows plus 2 soffee shorts, one set for each practice. No where near $200. And they wear whatever they want to tumbling.

the only time practice clothes are required is during choreography camp. this year we got 3 mini bows, 3 shirts, 3 sports bras (which we never had before), and 3 pairs of shorts-everything is screen printed-and came to a cost of $75. the only reason it's required is because, as stated before, we look like one while learning.

oh, and for normal practices we wear whatever we want

I think they are just Hanes T-ishirts that we put different sayings or our logo on. One of the moms knew a printer and he did the shirts for us. We just told him what we wanted. Last years really turned out nice. The kids still have their t-shirts from two years ago that they wear to tumbling so they have held up well. We buy our own soffee shorts but I can get them from Kohl's for $7 or less.

If you're planning on doing practice clothes don't buy the shirts through Varsity or CDT. I've seen their shirts in their catalogs and they prices are ridiculous. Contact a local sporting goods store (not Dicks or Sports Authority, but the place that does printing). I design and order all of the apparel for my son's lacrosse league, and we get tshirts for $8, under armour shirts with our logo for $20. It's much cheaper than the cheer places. Maybe order just one item from a cheer place, if you want it glittery or sequined.

At our gym we just started to wear the same practice clothes. I like that so i don't have to worry too much about what to wear and stuff but we can wear what ever to open tumbling/classes. But i herd at other gyms if you forget to wear the certain attire that the make you run at the end of practices and such. I think thats crazy! My gym does not punish you for not wearing the right colors to practice. :)

at our gym we have either one or two practice outfits everyone has a t-shirt with shorts to go with it (the local team patice onece a week so they one get one practice outfit) and the other is a tight fighting tank top with shorts and the coaches decide wich days wear them (if u are not on local)

I know of gyms that will not let the athletes practice if they show up in the wrong practice attire.
