I think the scoresheet is why it draws so many people in the first place. It is one of the only competitions that an underdog can come in and over take a big dog who happened to have a touch-down or a stunt fall and become a National Champion. I don't like it a bit and disagree with the system. But I do think that is the draw.
while i've seen many underdogs rise at cheersport... i wouldn't say this is completely true. for example ICC Inspire last year (yes i was on the team) had i think one bobble and cheer extreme (not bashing, they were a great team, just a bad day) had the pyramid crash day 2... i mean i would understand if we died the first day but we did put out 2 solid performances not dropping any stunts or anything in pyramid, but they still beat us. so yes this is true but i feel as if they are a bit political too. but hey, it's cheerleading for you.

Yes I was making a very broad generalization in saying this. I just think it is a draw. One of many draws, but a big one. JMO.

Since when is an underdog NOT allowed to win at Nationals? Shouldn't matter how big, small, well known, new, or old your program is. If your team hits clean and you're XYZ Allstars from Kalamazoo, and you're going against (just for argument's sake) Top Gun who has 2 bobbles, a touchdown and a stunt fall, does XYZ not deserve the title just because no one has heard of them before? To me, it sounds like the playing field is even. Your name doesn't win you the title, your skills do.
