IMO, this isn't a terrible idea.
I've seen countless girls that are young (7,8,9) with fulls that look like they're about to crash. Their legs are bent, they hardly get around, ect. and it DOESN'T look good.
I think they can stay on Y4 and do tumbling classes and when they get older, they'll have better technique, ect.

I've seen countless seniors that still have that same technique

i reallly enjoy watching the youth 5 division. i totally see where people are coming from when they say it is unsafe but you can have unsafe cheerleading at any level or age division yaknow there are plenty of senior5 teams that should not be doing what they are doing !

I agree that most youth fulls/doubles are kinda scary looking, but I think they will continue to do them wether they have a division or not. Our gym had a youth 5 team last year. This year they are all bumped up to juniors and now just have a j5 team. I think if the youth talent is there and gyms aren't just rushing the kids to progress faster to fill a team then they should be allowed to go level 5.

To me getting rid of y5 is the dumbest decision ever. Coaches and tumble instructors are not going to tell girls oh well your ready to full but since we don't have a team for you were gonna hold off on your skill. Do they not realize that even if there is not a y5 division girls young girls with fulls will still be wearing and tearing at the joints and bones because they will just get bumped up to j5.

I think they should keep it, otherwise we are pushing them to older and more mature teams which I don't always think is a good thing.

Bet we know each other!! My daughter was the first of the 2 on the team to throw her full this weekend at Cheernation : ) The CTA Knockouts Youth 4 were BEAST!!!!

I think this all goes back to safety. If all coaches were knowledgeable in all aspects of cheerleading and how to properly instruct, then it wouldn't be an issue.

But I can also see a youth 5 athlete being burnt out before their eligibility for seniors is up.
Your heart really has to be in it, if you want the intensity that level 5 gives you from age 8 all the way to 18.

im pretty sure someone has alreaddy said this but if they get rid of it all of the youth 5 kids will either go on jr 5, which means lots of little flyers in the air and most people on the team would be older or a youth 4 team which limits them on skills and they cant reach their full potential

I think it is a good push for the little girls that are too young to be on a jr team to learn and get used to a level 5 team

It's not going away. Next year there will be a Youth 5 and a Youth 5 restricted division

Thats great!!! I definitely think that if a team has talent no matter what the age is, they should put it to use and show off! Only if its done the right way of course. No sloppiness allowed.
