Dude, that could have suuucccckkkkeeedddd for that guy.

Male cheerleading has come to an end...my butt! haha is he even aware of how amazing and prestigious the uofL cheer program is?!

That is definitely something all sideline cheerleaders need to take into account though...that could have been tragic!

I feel really bad for him--that would really be a bad thing to have happen to you--good thing they won the game and the positive take is that at least Coach Patino (sp?) considers cheerleading a sport.

Not completely related, but one of my old teammates made the Sports Center Top 10 for something he did at a game! I can't remember what he did it was years ago, but this reminded me of that.

VERY lucky for him (and all of us really) they still won the game.

All i know is that when i did high school cheer and ball came towards us, we dove out of the way.

Yeahhhhh, I've definitely been hit in the head at least once with a basketball. Using during the warmups though, I don't think it happened during the game itself.

I feel horrible for him after all of the comments that have been posted on youtube and an article on Yahoo!. He was excited and made a mistake, big whoop. From what I was told from someone who actually watched the game on TV the clock on the TV screen had run out (so i'm guessing it did in the arena as well) before he did what he did but they had issues with the clock all game and had to reset it. It would have been had they lost the game, but hey mistakes happen. I actually would love to see how all of those negative comments would change if the cheerleader was a female instead.

My last comment didn't go through cuz Kingston decidd to Upgrade in the middle of the day!!! How am i suppose to distract myself from work when that happens....

Anyways... J.A is a great guy, and a great cheerleader, that loves his Louisville basketball. Coach Pitino even called him after the game and talked about it. I'm glad Pitino also had a sense of humor over the whole issue with the reporters. He understands how important cheerleaders are at that level, for both their support of the athletes and involvement in the game. Pitino is also very aware of the incredibly athleticism they bring to the table and how great the UL cheer program is. However.... had they lost, this may be a much larger issue. Mistakes happen. Nobody was hurt. He should enjoy his 15 minutes for now and not be embarrassed at all for being a crazed sports fan. Next time he just needs to throw his partner in the air and not the basketball.

This is so ridiculous. I’m not sure why this has gotten the attention it has. This was something that could've happened to anyone. For those that insist on talking about it, posting on blogs and news articles and now posting on here, please remember first and foremost that this “Cheerleader” is human. He’s someone’s child and most importantly he’s MY brother. I contemplated whether I should post with my two cents and felt that since I sometimes frequent this board, I could not justify reading through the post/comments without leaving my thoughts.

Obviously, he was the closest fan to the ball and out of pure excitement couldn’t contain himself after Kyle Kuric’s latest dunk to all but seal the win for the University of Louisville over Pitt. As far as he knew, as far as most fans knew, the game was over. He got emotional, the ball practically falling in his lap, tossing it high in the air. Yes, his action could have cost U of L a win with a miraculous shot but it was a long shot. It was Louisville’s day, nothing was going to change that.

Now on a personal note, if anyone cares to know. My brother is one of the kindest, loving and humble people I know. He’s very dedicated to any sport he is involved in, currently as a UofL Cheerleader but formerly as a basketball player, wrestler, LAX player and football player. After graduating from high school, he played football (on full scholarship) at a Div 2 college until an injury prevented him to further the season. It’s safe to say that I couldn’t be any more proud to call him my brother.

Now here we are. It seems that people can't even make a harmless misjudgment anymore without it being posted all over the internet under a "look how stupid this person was" banner. To put something as small on this as a national story shows what goes for news nowadays.

As an all star cheerleader and being a part of Senior Elite, I look up to him as a well rounded athlete that inspires me every day; whether he is playing the actual game on the court, or being the most spirited cheerleader in the world to where he makes what everyone is deciding to call a “mistake”. Don’t get me wrong, the first time I saw the clip on ESPN of him, I said to myself, “what a dork”…but it made me realize what kind of athlete he is. He is the most high-spirited person I know, and everyone is tending to look past that because they want to focus on a ball being thrown up in to the air out of pure excitement.

So if you’re reading this, and you are one of those people that have decided to make fun or say anything negative about my brother, and you don’t feel any different about the situation, I feel sorry for you. You are insensitive and I’m sorry the media affects you in this way. What if this was your brother? Or Son?

Understandably if its your brother you would be protective, but I don't think anyone on here has been mean. It was a mistake, didn't change the game (thankfully), and everyone will move on. I recommend (and this is from personal youtube experience with not your best being on there) to AVOID pretty much all traces of the video on youtube, cnn, whatever sites would have an article about it. For example, Orange had an awful BUTBT, but I didn't make a big stink about it (yotuubers did) and let it go. Two months later they are repeat NCA champions. Really if you ignore it all for a while it will go away.

I agree with King. I think you're pretty much preaching to the choir here girl, because from what I can tell were all on his side. Good for you for sticking up for him! Like King said, it will all blow over soon. =)
