Routine Themes

I do my teams theme is Secret.

That's a cool theme! May I ask what songs you use in your routine?? When I cheered, we once did the theme of "Candy" which I think can become overdone, but we used songs like, "Tootsie Roll", "Pour some sugar on me", "Lollipop", etc...
This year, for my first year coaching we tried to go with more of a "dark & dirty" theme, even incorporating beat boxing into the mix, but we got dinged on our music because it wasn't "cheer" enough.....

I have a junior team whose music is all about youth/being young/etc. Our advanced senior team is called "Senior Gold", so their music has a lot of songs that talk about gold/glitter/etc.

Now that we're getting to the end of the year, the themes have kind of been forgotten BUT they were really fun for the teams when they were first getting into their music! The gym that I train at has used a theme for their Worlds teams for the past two years, but this year, our coach decided to go "themeless". Overall, I think that themes are REALLY fun when you're in the building stages of the routine, but they seem to be forgotten over time. I think they're always exciting for the spectators though :)

May I ask what songs your senior team uses that talk about gold & glitter? The school that I coach at, their colors are black, gold, and white, and we're always trying to find music that could be used containing our school colors (or one of them at least).
As a coach, I think themes are SUPER fun, however, not necessarily for music. I think it's important to have a theme for the year, just to keep things fun for the team. I am in the process of preparing for tryouts for next year, and I have already had my heart set on our theme being "Fearless", as we will be doing new activities, attending new camps, and hopefully bringing in some new traditions..... :)

I actually never thought of themes extending past music! Glad you posted that - I really like the idea!

Our theme was 'Old School Funk With A New School Flavor'.

All of the songs had the word "funk" in them.

i dont have a theme this year, but last year my theme was beauty. and i was once on a team that had a sitcom theme haha

My senior year of high school we did a "Super" theme. All of our music had super in it and we even got t-shirts that had the superman symbol with our schools initials in it.

Some teams at my old gym do themes... in some cases I like them. My favorite theme of all time was from Rockstar Cheer in Miami... they're Miny's (maybe tiny's?) have the cutest routine and music. It is Disney themed, like Minnie Mouse sort of. They wear little pink bows (the kind without bow tails) and the music has a lot of Disney in it. I saw it at WSF and fell in love!

my old gym has done themes before...off the top of my head some of the ones i remember were boy bands, 90's dance, country, and "she" songs.
i absolutely loved the boy band mix, it was super cute!

When themes are done right (ie WCSS Latin) they're great. When themes are not done right.....flopsville.

My daughters team theme is Magic. say hello to the magical minis of PRO. The VoiceOver is stuck in my head as my daughter plays it over and over again

Their bows have a wand on them, the music is all magic themed..do you believe in magic and the like. It is very cute. Our tiny team has Safari as a theme. Their bows have zebra print and look like ears

We have a Star theme this year, wishing on a star, shooting star, shining star! Love it!!!
