1. Guess what...McDonald's emplyees also make diddly. I wouldn't be real excited if THEY told me how to be a less annoying customer either. I don't care who I'm paying. The fact of the matter is that I AM paying. I'm paying for a product and the coach is part of the product. How much the coach gets paid is between the owner and them. Not me. All I know is I'm spending the better part of my annual income on this, so I'm not real receptive to being told how to be "less annoying." And as I've stated numerous times on this board: I spend more on cheer than I do on any other bill I have. So you can bet I'm going to be picky about what I receive for that money.

Funny you bring up the Mcdonalds, because that is where I spend my other 8-12 hours a day at when I'm not at a gym. As a manager I wouldn't say I make diddly, but definitely not as much as someone with the same management experience in a different setting makes. I could write a thread telling you how to get your way at mcdonalds too, and the list would go longer, but I will say getting your way at mcdonalds in the fastest and highest quality way possible is usually to be compassionate and professional and always ask to speak to the manager, because dealing with customers is the main reason we are paid more.

Likewise, you are usually one of my favorite posters. I completely 100% understand where you're coming from. There are going to be mistakes made by both parties, I just feel like there is a lot of nitpicking going both ways. So maybe on Wednesdays practice I hadn't eaten all day and needed a McDouble, that shouldn't lead to major frustration. Or maybe my Senior 3 had a really good practice, and Youth 2 didn't; I don't think posting on facebook 'Great/Awesome/Amazing practice with Senior 3" should lead to a Youth 2 rebellion. If these are some of your biggest problems at a gym, then maybe you don't have it so bad. :) (But the private tumbling thing, I totally get. It's like that episode of Will and Grace when Grace is hiding while watching a personal training session and copying what they're doing. haha)

Heee heee - never saw that Will and Grace, but I love that show. I can just picture it.

Thank goodness our new gym doesn't seem to have these problems. And I really do have to give credit to them - I have never actually been at a gym that I felt so accurately placed the teams. And there was NO favoritism from what I've seen - the kids with Level 5 skills are on a Level 5 team. The kids on Level 4? Level 4 athletes. My daughter came out of her first practice last night and knew the names of every coach in the gym...complete with rankings of awesomeness in her eyes. She is probably one of the smallest and least experienced on her team, but in no way shape or form did she feel like it - she felt like she was part of a teeeeam.

As for the pizza thing - a gym we went to for just a couple months used to order pizza for the coaches EVERY PRACTICE. They'd put it in the parent area on a table and go in and out of the gym grabbing slices. And eat them in the gym while they were coaching. Our coaches now eat in the "eating room" or the office. I get that people gotta eat - I'll bring you food if you need me to. Just don't eat it in the gym in front of the starving girl who doesn't get dinner until 9:00 on practice day.

And so far every Facebook post for our new gym is like they just won Worlds. Sooooo positive for each team - even the Mom's Zumba class got a post about how well they did! :D (I was not in there...)

So there's good and bad gyms...good and bad coaches...and, sadly, good and bad parents. Hopefully everyone can read through BOTH of these threads and say either "Whew...I don't think I do that" or "Uh oh...I do that." - and maybe next time they'll catch themselves and think "Oh! This is what they were talking about...oops."

Is the pizza gym hiring? Sounds pretty great to me. :-p

So happy I am only guilty of #3, sorry but I gotta eat sometime (when you own the gym, been there all day and hadn't seen daylight my stomach punches me and says eat) LOL... A lot of our parents get together and go eat during practice, then come back for the last hour of practice to watch!

Are they eating?????? Hmmmmm....lol

Wow, that's great. I think you are in the minority so of course none of this applies to you.
thank you very much. We try and can always do better.
AND I must add. EVERYONE GETS A SNACK AFTER PRACTICE. (And sometimes during if a kid is really complaining they are starving I send them to get a snack and tell them to eat it in the bathroom so know one knows);)

Girl you known me for 16 years and youve always seen me stuff my food down... I am like Michael Jordan, eating fries, a big mac with special sauce, a milk shake and apple pie while soaring through the air (some of you are to young to remember that commercial) LOL, I just have my subway while spotting, counting with my mouth full, and catching falling flyers with one hand while drinking my water and sometimes my weakness (sweet tea or Dr pepper)! :help: I am being a bad coach aren't I! ummmmNOOOOOO! I am just hungry!

Okay so I love this thread and all though it seems negative, it should be taken as constructive. I have not read every comment so I am not sure if I'm piggy backing on another so forgive me if I am; but somethings that always rub me the wrong way is...... When a coach rips individual girls apart after a performance but before they compete points out that no one goes out on a floor planning to make a mistake. Also when coaches talk about other kids and their families to other parents or cheerleaders....FYI coaches...Suzy's mom or Suzy may be agreeing with you and fueling the conversation but they tell everyone else everything you said. I know coaches are human and are not perfect and can not like every child and it has to be difficult to coach a child you may not like but its YOUR JOB and YOU SHOULD NEVER LET IT SHOW!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, that's alot for a private so maybe I would be a little more annoyed if that happened to me.
Plus my daughter wouldn't have so many! Lol
At our gym every coach charges different prices but I've had 3 different things for the people I'd have do it.
1st coach I let do it made it 8$ for 30 mins and $15 for an hour.
2nd coach I let do it made it $10 for 30 mins or $20 for an hour.
And the most I ever paid is the person I'm paying now-
15$ for 30 mins or 30$ for an hour!
Wow thats cheap. From gyms around me, its usually about 55-60 dollars for an hour

Haha I see that! I guess I'm lucky- now I will admit the girl who was doing it for the $15 hour a rate was great and very nice she wasn't like a real coach. She assisted for the tiny team. However the other ones definitely are and are very good at that. I see a lot of improvement!
Like I have a cheese mat at my house I paid $340 for I can spot her but I need someone to coach every aspect as what goes into a skill and they all are very good!
I'm actually satisfied with the gym and all these other rules people have made besides maybe the food one. It has not been broken at that gym my cp goes too from what I have seen!

I will add the food one is usually only before or after practice! I have never seen them eat during practice/privates!
